I saw that too.
She appeared to be pretty recently off student status as she was potato
chipping a bit.
I also noticed that she came pretty close to having a horsheshoe
malfunction because she deployed her throw out (ROL) pilot chute, in FRONT
of her arm. She got her hand out of the way of the bridle in time to save
her life but it could easily have been ugly.
The porn star in question, Alex Jordan, committed suicide sometime after
this was filmed. She hung herself, so the bad publicity only went to the
porno industry and not to skydiving. Sad. It is because of this that I
never mentioned it here.

I've alluded to it a couple of times but one of the more odd
ball personal statistics of mine is that the number of folks I know
who have died skydiving is roughly the same as the number of skydivers
I know who have taken their own lives. I have no real explaination,
and it could easily be a quirk of statistics, but no other social
group of mine can claim nearly the same sorts of statistics. And,
occasionally, that's hard to dismiss. Especially considering I spent
5 years volunteering on a suicide hotline.

That is a very lucid observation. It may be related to the types of
personalities that are drawn to skydiving. I hate all generaliztions (;^),
but IMHO, based on personal obsevation of myself and my compadres, skydivers
as a group tend to live life on a more intense level than whuffos. It's
great - we squeeze every bit of joy out of the relatively short time we have
on this plane. Skydiving, to me, is the ultimate celebration of life. I
have never tasted anything else that makes me feel so ALIVE. Docking,
turning points, geeking the camera - these are all physical manifestations of
these feelings, in much the same way sex can be a physical manifestation of
emotions.
But there is a darker side to this intensity. Although life is fatal anyway,
some individuals choose to take their own lives prematurely. Perhaps the
intensity with which the types of people who become skydivers live life and
experience feelings and emotions makes them more susceptible to suicidal
tendencies.
Then again, there are some individuals who are drawn to skydiving not because
of the joy it offers, but because of the PERCEIVED flirting with death
involved (IMHO, purely a whuffo concept). At one of the DZs I have been
known to frequent, we had a student who very seriously told us she was crazy,
had a split personality, and was taking medication. She made a big scene,
too. She was ultimately asked to leave and never return, but if she had
never volunteered that information, she probably would have jumped, and who
knows...
In any case, death is merely a transition to some people to a
(better/worse/neutral) different place, while it is an end to all pain (and
all PLEASURE!) to others. Who knows? But I do know for sure that it leaves
behind a lot of pain for those remaining on this plane. If this girl who
died was the sun in some guy's sky, he will be hurting for a long time.
Let's try to keep death out of our lives, my friends.

air quite a bit.
The situation with the throwout could have gotten ugly. Did you also
notice that her wave-off was pretty week also. She gave one sloppy
wave, skipped the second, and had trouble locating the throw-out for a
few seconds.
I had not heard that Alex Jordan killed herself. I believe she was
here in Dallas not too long ago dancing at a local club and made an
appearance at a local porn shop. Did she kill herself sometime late
this year?

Do not say some. There are lots of people who consider this an action
sport (yeah, right. Going to the DZ weekend after weekend with too many
clouds or too strong wind, and not getting a single jump). They do it because
they want to be on the edge, to feal death nearby.
Usually they are gone after a few jumps, or gets a different attitude.
I started because I always had something for flying, and with my sight
I was not able to get license for glider planes or engine powered. With
skydiving, there is little or no medical requirements.

Definitely this is an action sport, but it is not a death sport. It is a
LIFE sport. If they want to feel death nearby, they need to stay away from
skydiving and spend more time on the highway (may I suggest North Central

And yes I would too believe the number of people who mailed you to get
the rest of the images. After I had my web-site up for about a month,
I added a page called "Quincy T&A". It got about 400 hits in a week
or so. After I took the link off of the home page so my daughter

It was done successfully about 15 years ago at Marshall, Michigan.
No tandem; Conventional solo rigs.

This falls under "skydivers in a porno movie"
Last year (1997) this guy started doing video at Napoleon. He was
from "elsewhere" (CA, AZ.. someplace..) and had decided to come north
for the summer.
For some odd reason (god, wouldn't know why.. skydivers are such a
_wholesome_ lot in general) someone recognized George as having been
in a porno movie.
So, one night everybody is hanging out in Jimmy's hootch watching
videos and he pops in this porno tape with George. As the story
goes, the movie is extremely cheesy (no suprise) and in the movie this
fellow comes sauntering up in his jumpsuit and says something like
"Well, yes, I skydive..." I believe that all the dialog ends there,
if you catch my meaning.
Apparantly everybody gave George such a ration of shit that he packed
up his trailer and left very soon after.
Never did get a chance to see the movie. Rumor was his performance was
"uninspired."
