Whoa up there buddy boy! Let's rephrase that shall we. Great Britain is the
closest friend the USA has in the World...and we back up our posturing with
commitment and action, not lip service!
Furthermore, just in case you don't know this, the UK is NOT part of Europe,

The same can be said for the opposite. Japan didn't think we could
keep them out of the Dutch East Indies if they could neutralize the
Pacific Fleet. It took a while but they were wrong. Germany believed
we were too isolationist to get involved with Europe and even if we
did, it would be to hold the Soviets in check. It took a while but
they were wrong.

Teeth are always present. Just a fact of life and Europe has been

I would say that the opposite is also true-USA is the closest friend
Europe has in the world.
>When your closest friend disagrees with you, maybe you should
>reconsider what you are doing.

Exactly. But what has the US done? Up to this point, merely made
arguments (based on previous UN resolutions as compared with Iraq's
present response coupled with Iraq's history) for UN military action.
France, Germany, and Belgium have argued for delay and further
inspections in the hopes of preserving peace. Essentially a
Chamberlainesque, "Peace at Any Cost."
The US, Europe's best friend, disagrees with the "Wait for Improvement
Strategy." Maybe Europe should get all its ducks in a row and present
a unified yea or nay and if nothing has changed in the Iraqi posture
and the US policy, then perhaps Europe might listen to their best
friend and reconsider what they are doing?

Pssssttttt.......hey Jaques.........ya can't please everyone all the time, and
only ignorant fools try. If my brutally honest remarks offend you or anyone
else to the point that you choose to become my enemy.....then you never had the
integrity to begin with.....to be anything other than my enemy.
Oh........and maybe you should consider your own words directed at us. If you
can't stomach others making snotty remarks about you and yours.......then you
should consider restraining from making your own.
Some of the enemies you make have teeth, as I'm sure you have
>noticed!
Yes.....some of our enemies DO have teeth. In fact, some of our enemies have
sharper teeth than others. However.......the one thing that sets the United
States of America, far above most of the rest of the world is......we don't
cower away from snarling, or biting dogs. We lick our wounds.....then we bite
back....only harder.
>Just in case you don't know this, Europe is the closest friend USA has in
>the world.
Europe????? You mean the whole continent, and every pissy little socialist
country in it???
When you say Europe......do you mean like the countries that we liberated
during WW 2 and helped get back on their "own" feet....just so they could screw
it up again for themselves by turning socialist, make deals with the devil, and
not only run and hide from potential threats, but try to block every effort of
the countries with enough intestinal fortitude to do what NEEDS to be done to
once again save your pathetic little effeminate asses?
Or......when you say Europe.....do you mean like the countries that fell under
the totalitarian scourge of soviet communism.....who have it branded into their
souls, the inhumanity communism and socialism perpetuates.....and now
"unconditionally" appreciate the United States of America for being the tip of
the spear that toppled the soviet empire, enough to proudly shout to the world
that they stand behind our actions without trepidation?
So........just exactly what Europe are you talking about?
When your closest friend disagrees with you, maybe you should
>reconsider what you are doing.
So far.........our closest friends have not disagreed with
us........therefore....there is nothing to reconsider.
Perhaps.......you should learn the "true" definition of friendship.

My son and daughter in law were in Australia on 9/11. There were large
gatherings of people held in honor of the deceased from the terrorists attacks,
the people of Australia made two young Americans feel very welcome and safe.
These were a couple of kids who didn't know how, or when they would be able to

I got the distinct impression that most Aussies were firmly behind the

The thing is, having failed to catch Osama bin Laden (our "number one

guilt to another nasty individual, but one who is easier to punish. Not
at all unlike the biblical concept of the sacrificial lamb who dies to
cleanse the sins of others. Trouble is, the sinners will still be

Consider this. The US has very little respect for the UN, so do you think it
sounds likely that Bush senior will accept stopping 2-3 days before complete
victory, just because the UN says so? Will the US accept not attacking Iraq
now, if the UN says no? I think not. After having gotten the initial
approval of the UN, USA was in complete control of the military events.
In Europe we were royally pissed with the US for stopping the war before the

Bush Sr. had no choice. The strategy for the war was formed by taking the
coalition into consideration. Any Military War Strategist will tell you that
when a war plan is developed, it's not a good idea to change. There was also
the possibility of an uprising within the Arab world, turning against us and
we weren't prepared for that with the positioning of our troops. The
original U.N. Resolution only authorized repelling Iraqi Armed Forces from
Kuwait.
It's very easy to cast stones with 20/20 hindsite. Bush abides by the U.N.
resolutions, you whine he should have defied them. If Bush defies the U.N.
resolutions and gone into Iraq, people whine like a baby he's trying to take

your disagreement.
3. I may argue with you just because I am enjoying it.

Yeah, but then there's PPOR: "provide proof or retract." If you state
something as a fact and fail to back it up, you look like a twit.

Well, that's not how it works, unless of course you don't care if you
look like a twit.
> 3. I may argue with you just because I am enjoying it.
It's not an argument if you refuse to adhere to the accepted rules of
debate. It's twit-speak.

It's good you have r.s, Dusty, because you wouldn't last elsewhere on
usenet for 5 seconds.
I'm not John, but I think your terms are really, really stupid. You
really look like a twit.

Hmmm, Colin Powell states on page 513 in his 1995 book "My American Journey"
that his "... role in the President's decision to end the war when and how he did [It]
is an accountability I carry with pride and without apology."
Doesn't sound like the U.N. had any involvement in the matter, at least from his
point of view. But what the hell does he know? He was only the General.

apparently never been exposed to Skydiver politic's eh Jakcoors?
unfokkingbelievable ;> don coyote
The only people I've known to get a hard time in France are those who give
Americans a well-deserved bad name.
When one insists on behaving like an asshole, they shouldn't be surprised -
or take particular offense - if they are treated like an asshole. It is
fitting and proper.

Its a "skydivers" group.
If all we talked about was skydiving, it would get boring pretty fast.

Maybe next you could surrender to someone and that would make you feel
good too. Just pick a country, any country. Pussy.
