The February issue of Parachutist had a feature article on a clinic on
wearing weights. You might look for one of them.
You might also talk to Jimbo. He was featured in the article photographs,
and must have learned a lot from the clinic, because Rev Jim says he doesn't
float any more. Can't hurt to ask.

4 pounds is about the minimum that people wear, it's not worth the
hassle for less than that. Increments of 1 pound are normal.
I have never liked the vests because they dig into your shoulders.
I use weight belts made from ankle weights. They can be bought at
Wal-Mart, KMart Target etc for about $12.00.
For $5 more, I got a local rigger or jumpsuit repair person to sew them
together & add a snap fastener on a tape belt.
These can be worn on the inside or outside of your jumpsuit. Either way
they can be readily jettisoned in case of a water landing.
