Had a lovely day yesterday. Third time I've skied this year, we're
having a great start, and I'm taking most of next week off to ski,
weather forecast looks great.
Been a rewarding yet frustrating November. We get huge loads of snow,
then the level spikes and half the pack heads towards the Sound.
Yesterday was a good example: groomed glacier as Crystal got rained on
to the top over the weekend. Like skiing back east. Weather was
great, mid 30's on the hill and it got warmer as you got higher
because the inversion has set in. Phenomenal visibility, you could
see all the way to the Olympics and Mt. Baker.
Groomed hardpack can be fun when the hill is empty and you have the
right skis. I dug out an old pair of K2 GS race skis and remembered
just how much I like them, dancing skis with great edge hold. If I
didn't have two pairs of race stock GS skis in the quiver, I'd take
these with me to SV or DV this winter. So many choices, so little
time.
My friend skied a bunch back east and said it was like being in
Vermont with a lot better scenery.
Great start to the season. I'll have ten days in by Xmas, when I will
hide in the lowlands while the children terrorize the slops. Utah,
Jackson and Ketchum in Jan/Feb, Whistler for the Olympics, all kinds
of plans.

ps: No one came up to me and spewed any shit, nobody called me a
child molester, etc. Amazing. I've got something like four hundred
ski days since the freaks went terrorist, and not a single time has
anyone ever told me to fuck off, except for a snowboarder. That
doesn't count. Especially since he ran when I clicked out and invited
him to do the same........
