Not me. We have a winter storm advisory. Currently it is 35deg F,
.35inches of rain and it is right on the edge of whether it is going to
freeze or not.
However, with that said, the LDS normally has a "First Dive" in the New
River (about 35 miles west of here) on New Years Day. Unless the dive
site is inaccessible due to snow or ice, I will most likely make that one.

I spent Christmas in Thailand once, she'll be fine. It's always the
day after when God traditionally sends the tsunami as punishment.
Something to do with the date-line: even God gets confused by it.
Maybe she should spend the 26th on a nice nature hike up the nearest
mountainside?

She's at sea, somewhere northeast of Fak-fak I assume. Totally out of
touch. The weather's been looking kinda crappy there, so they may be
hiding behind some moutain there.

Actually, yes. It's down to 74. That and my cardiologist who's not gonna
be able to stop me once the water warms up. Gotta do some more research
on that article for DAN, "Surviving Underwater Myocardial Infarctions".

Not totally, as most liveaboards (and some of their passengers) carry
satellite phones. I let my service lapse, though. My next "exotic"
trip to Indonesia offers cell-phone and internet service. Hope her
weather clears.

Two of those most likely changed by the time you read the message.
I showed a total of 1.57 inches of rain yesterday on my rain gauge.
Fortunately, the temperature stayed just above freezing otherwise
everything around here would have been a thick sheet of ice.
Area SW of here about 20 miles or so, was not so lucky. News pics
showed HEAVY ice accumulation, wires down. Got a friend who lives in
that area apparently without power. I know he has a pretty hefty backup
generator.

No snow here in Vegas, though I can see snow-capped mountains from my
window. Most people see only the neon lights, but it really is a
pretty valley surrounded by awesome mountains that house Sin City.
Unfortunately we have to drive back in an hour or so, as soon as my
room service lunch arrives.

We had a great Chrismas Dive in Lake Stechlin, cosy 3 ° C water temp,
minus 14°C outside.
Every DIR stuff froze together in a lump of ice. I like the taste of
frozen pistol clips.

Yeah, if someone can't afford to pay for expensive knee replacements
because they don't have the skills or talent to get a job like gas
plumbing that comes with lucrative health insurance benefits, then

Times change ... especially on the web. I have been part of Rec.Scuba
since the Bob's Board days. People have come and gone. Posters have
married and divorced. We have had one suicide. Others have died in
front of us. It is a story that has to be told some day. I check in
every few days, but, there is just so many other scuba distractions on
the web. I have made dives with a few posters, had beer with at least
one other ... my goal in 2010 is to increase both the dives and the
beers with fellow rec-scuba-ers.

The only thing that's changed is the company that takes me to and from
work. Switched to GO from TTC when they started charging monthly
passholders for parking.
