i recently rented one called The Long Run from the new releases section.
i don't recall it being in the theaters, but then it was shot in Africa,
so maybe it wasn't a big studio that made it.... certainly no big name
actors, though i thought it was well-acted and generally well done.
great scenery in the film. i really enjoyed it... very inspirational!

I liked "Marathon Man" and "Personal Best.", but "Chariots of Fire"
is a classic, although it's from such a different time that it's a
little strange.

Few people understand what a great running movie this is. Show it to you child
who doesn't understand why he or she gets picked last for team sports and loves
to run laps in the gym.
It takes the low road to inspiration. But what a job it does.

Just scanning through my movie collection, and spotted a fave running
movie called ... of course.... "Running". it's from 1979, starring a
very young Michael Douglas. he plays a guy training for the Olympic
marathon, but has personal issues to work out along the way. a very
inspiring film.

Without Limits-- The other Pre movie
A Shining Season-- you might have to look hard for this one (I got it
through inter-library loan)...the story of John Baker, a former U of
New Mexico runner who died of testicular cancer, based on the
biography book of the same name.
Chariots of Fire
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner-- also based on a book
Jericho Mile
Fire on the Track: The Steve Prefontaine Story
Just of few of the many........

And then there's the quintessential "running in Converse All-Stars"
movie: Rocky.
My feet hurt just watching those scenes.

Good one.
That was on again recently here in the UK. I must have seen it a dozen times
but caught 5 minutes and I daresay you can guess the rest. I ended up
watching the whole thing.

I saw it for the first time a few months ago, and have seen it again since.
It's a truely tragic tale.
We all know what became of Mel Gibson's acting career. Any of you know what
became of the actor who played his running mate?

I remember this movie for some unknown reason myself. When anybody
mentions movies about running this is the first to pop into my head. I
don't even remember the name of it.

Classic B/W british flick with more than a running story.

Thanks, Sam.

A pair of used SuperNovas and the admiration of someone too lazy to do
their own imdb search.
Also, check out www.runnersworld.com on the Daily News. Don Kurtis
apparently asked the same question at www.runmichigan.com and posted the
answers on the Daily News.
I cannot believe "Pre" was not on the list. Whether you liked it or Without
Limits doesn't really matter, it was still a running movie, IMHO.
