Q50k 7:29 http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/36091876 About 20min better
than last year; I ate and drank more, about 33oz/hr & 1600 calories,
including Feed Zone ricecakes, and wore hoka stinsons, which did well, but
now a pad on the sole is peeling off, oops. A couple days of short hill
repeats this week also.

I've walked 5K every morning from Monday through Saturday (and will do so
again this morning), plus an additional two miles Friday afternoon.

I plan to walk 5K every morning through the end of the month, and then
start adding short jogs in June, gradually increasing the jogging distance
until I'm jogging the entire 5K.

Ran a 10k trail race on Friday which was about
10.25k on my garmin...

An undulating course with 1 hard climb - I let
1 of my age-group competitors go ahead and could
see him stretch the lead out to about 100 meters.
From about the 1/2 way mark I started closing the gap,
and passed him at about 8.5kms. I managed to
pass a few more runners over the last 2 kms which were
my fastest and finished in 43:36 which was good for
3/36 AG (45-54) and 8/157 overall.

You can see some photos in this link which were at about
the 8km mark as I was closing on my competitor...there
are a few 5k runners mixed in here - points for anyone
who can guess who I am... :)

Were you wearing a hat?
I'm not sure even which photo to check. I figured it had to have 4 people in it (you, your competitor, and at least two 5K runners). was your competitor the bald guy?

Still did not get back to increasing number of days, but what days I did run I made better use of them.

12 miles in four days.

Big run was May 19, Sunday, mid afternoon. I went on trails near home. I got nearly 5miles (4.34 mile GPS measured + about 0.6 car measured) completed. I might have gone a little farther, but the battery on the phone got very low after about 4 miles. So rather than finis on the trail, I took to the road so I could measure the distance with the car. With the heat, it took me well over an hour (79minutes). I was walking a good part of the last half mile. Just goes to show I'm not a warm weather runner.

I need to plan a race soon, if for no reason than to motivate me more.

Enjoy!

Yep. I was wearing a hat - no - the guy I was chasing wasn't bald...
Actually the times of the photos were a few minutes apart. In the earlier
ones I'm chasing
1 guy not in my category who is trailing me later on as I moved up on my
age-group competitor...

Sequence of photos across the rows go from right to left....

First time I've heard a race singlet/vest called that (had to google it...)
Yes - I was wearing one, but not blue shorts or shoes
(although all shoes did have a blue tag which carried the chip...)

My next guess was black shorts / dark-blue singlet / dark-grey hat.
Looks like a fun event!

Still pooped from my Sunday 10K (and a little sore, too!) I shortened
Tuesday's run. Not quite six miles, Wednesday's hike, and not as many
stream crossings as last week, but deeper. I just managed to keep my
underwear dry.

Friday's run again a bit on the short, slow side. Sunday morning
wonderfully cool, even after sunrise, and I was really enjoying a nice
easy jog'n'walk and almost done when I fell for that old sidewalk trick!
I really know better than to run on the sidewalk when there's a street
right there. Came home a bloody mess, and still bleeding and oozing,
especially from a strange hole in the back of my right hand! :-(

Ouch! I've had a couple of falls recently while out on runs - not fun...

Hope there's no serious damage and everything heals quickly.

Yep. Was fun.
I prefer trails to road...
