No midnight race for me, I'll be with my wife at the Cleveland
Orchestra concert to ring in the new year. Which leads me to say:
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL REC.RUNNERS!!!!!!!!!!!
May all your steps be fast ones
and give yourself a cheer
As you log your personal best
throughout the coming year.
Enjoy the run,
Ed
It rained a bit yesterday, the trails were perfect -- soft and firm, no
dust.

A bit over 4mi in lovely 21F weather. Ice on the surfaces but
I managed it in just under 43 min. This probably makes me
officially the slowest rec.running participant but someone has
to come in last :)

Quite a nice park to run in winter, with a mostly flat topography and a
very scenic trail running atop the pallisades, which aren't as tall
there as they shortly give way to their first natural break since
beginning across from New York City some 12 miles south. There's a nice
mix of singletrack and cinder, and the park hosts the long path for a
couple of miles, before it passes through the quaint village of Piermont
and then ascends the next leg of the Pallisades ridge, clausland
mountain. Anyway these are great places to run.
Happy New Year everyone!

I was too close to the mountains to see the blue moon that early today,
but saw a beautiful almost-full moon on Tues. Decided there was too much
ice and unplowed roadways to run late enough today to see it safely, so
will just look from my yard.
Happy New Year to all also.

There have been similar rumors in upstate, even some conspiracy theorists
who say Encon has been secretly transplanting Cougars. No one seems to be
able to ever come up with any proof of their existence though. I have seen
bobcats in my travels, nothing bigger thankfully.
A nice easy 8.5 before the snow started falling for me.
I managed 8.5 miles today the temp was exactly zero outside and a slight
2-4mph wind. Going into to this even for less than a 1/2 mile was
brutal. The worst problem was the "runners trots" that I sometimes have
to deal with and finding a restroom was not easy. I never can figure out
what I eat that causes this but after 25 years of it I don't think I
will. It was better than the treadmill since the sun was shinning.

That's some pretty tough temps bro ... congrats for toughing it out.
I put in about 15 miles this morning running around East Lansing ( all
over the campus which is beautiful in the winter ) at about 20
degrees. Some nasty swirls of wind at various points but no new
snow.
Offhand that sounds like a damn fine time for 1 January!
Albany? Isn't that a ways from your home digs?

How about milk products, it's a common cause of squitters.

Hills? You can't be serious based on your usual running environs! :)
I jogged the 3.5 miler, didn't know you were coming. Many of my gold clad
team mates did the half.
