# Please tell us about your training week and goals.

Pretty typical week maybe 50ish in miles ... 6 days on 1 off.

The XC team had 2 meets last wednesday and saturday so some good speed
work running all over watching the action / screaming / then dashing
off somewhere else on the course.

Always sad to see an XC season end and our varsity team failed to
advance out of our District meet. My daughter and everyone else ( so
40+ runners still ) who did not run in the varsity District race run
one more meet monday night ( Walsh last chance ).

I may try to find a couple more 5ks before January but who knows work
and life are still extremely busy.

Good luck all!

Tuesday morning heading down the hall I was surprised how good I felt,
expecting repercussions from Sunday's hilly 16K, my longest run in months.
The surprise and good feeling vanished as I started down the 4½ flights of
stairs at the end of the hall. Ended up running only 24 blocks (3.9K) instead
of the standard 8K.
Wednesday's hike was just over four miles, but I found some of the 1200'
climb a bit tough. Was glad Thursday is one of my off days.
Managed the usual 5K on Friday, but not super peppy.
Sunday made the fourth Sunday in a row that I have met or exceeded my
minimum standard of 13K, although I bogied two of the weeks (ie, they weren't
"up to par"). I'm obviously not recovered from something or other. The last
2/3 of that little run (8mi, to imperialists) were painful, and the pain
persists even now as I type this.

Next week has to be better.

http://www.dp50.org , 13:52. 54 miles in scrub juniper, slickrock
canyons and arroyos. Hit the turnaround right at 5:30, but then let myself
get dehydrated in the 2nd half. A good day though!

you crazy ultra!

Ive been doiung very short runs but am looking to increase it after
reading this article -
http://www.gocaveman.co.uk/the-dreaded-26-2-miles/ - ive been entered
into a marathon but havent given it much thought till now! Bit of a
kick up the arse!!!! MAybe a just have too much pride...

Its horrible because i have this vision of doing ultras (my dad used to
do them so need to beat him) but I am so far off it at the moment.

p.s most of this weeks running was done on the roads because it has been
raining hard here and the trails have turned to slime....3 6-8k tuns on
the roads have knacjkered my legs...really makes a difference. Please
stop raining so that I can get out into the countryside.

Careful of what you wish for. I started doing them about 25 year ago and
I'm still dumb to stop.

Brief word of advice, think long term. Spend a year or two just building a
solid base. PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE and then some more!!!! If you
try to hurry into the ultra world you will spend more time on the injured
list then in a race.
