For forefoot strikers, I recommend these trail shoes. I've used them on pavement and they've been great. They are extremely flexible, are well ventilated, are durable, have a nice wide toe box, and minimal heel (I think 4 centimeters). There's some discussion about the strap across the top of the foot that doesn't let the foot expand completely. That hasn't been a problem for me I guess because my foot is not that wide. I really like the strap because the shoe feels more snug and I think it prevents my foot from moving forward in the shoe on downhills.

I got a hotspot on the outside of my big toe once because there's a little blob of fabric there on the seam, but it went away. I also run in these shoes (all shoes) without socks. The faux-chamois inside feels really nice.

The commercial is good too.

4 mm, not cm. Sorry.

I used to have their Minimus and found protection
from underneath inadequate on trails. Are these any
better?

I'm actually going to say no. The shoe uses a 1 centimeter dot pattern encased in a soft foam-type substance. This design allows the shoe to be incredibly flexible. However, although it's not happened to me, I would imagine if you struck a sharp rock that went between the dots, you would feel it.

You have done a great job. I would like thanks to you that you share
this post here with us. I also think that running is the one of best
exercise to stay healthy.

I see that MT1010 has a rock plate. Does it work well?
What is v2?

The first release had major durability & outsole lug placement problems,
but was excellent in everything else for a mid-distance trail shoe,
including the rock plate. I've been using the LaSportiva Helios in a
similar role lately, but I see now that the mid-sole EVA right under the
metatarsals is completely broken down in this pair, while the rest of the
shoe is hardly worn. That's very disappointing, as I haven't put that many
miles on them. Both these models have rock plates and some cushion.

Thanks.
I have two pairs of LaSportiva Helios and I like the protection
they provide. Trails I run on often have sharp rocks, so this is
important to me.
