Not that they're telling me. 8-(
(but I haven't been in contact w/ anyone in the know up there in a while
)

What I do know is that after a Summer of trying and testing
different things, that a new idea of a way to solve one of the
problems they were having w/ the train was tried and seems to have
worked 8-)

This would lead me to believe that the ride "might" open w/ the park
in the Spring as this step forward was a major one

What people seem to forget is that the difficult to build track /
trough for this ride, had to be basically finished before the
developing / testing of the train could begin
The train development / testing process is a very tedious one and is
taking longer than most people thought it might. (but it akes as long
as it takes )
Fetterman & Knoebels are determined to see it thru to give us a safe
ride that's not tearing up the trough "we" labored so hard to build.
( Bartlett's 1930's Flying Turns rides, trains <3 different designs>,
all ended up doing trough dammage, which is one of the reasons why
those rides no longer exsist )

So I hope we'll all be riding the Flying Turns in the Spring 8-)

While they were cycling single and double-car trains on the circuit during
PPP, and inside source tells me there are problems with this ride, and not
to look for this thing to be open in Spring of 2009. They said *maybe* by
end of 2009, but no promises.

What's the saying? It will be ready when it's ready?
:-)

What's another expression; don't hold your breath. I've been watching
and photographing the construction progress of this endeavor since
March 2006. I know they are efforting to make this "fly", but if it is
taking this long, does it not seem that the hurdles may be too high
for even the most talented Mr. Fetterman to clear? Will they have to
compromise the anticipated thrill of this ride to make it safety
compliant and to minimize the wear and tear on the lumber?

A friend of mine visited the site a few weeks ago, and was most
fascinated with the front end of the first car of the train as it set
in the brake run. To paraphrase what he said: The front of the chassis
of the lead car has been reworked to resemble a brick shxx house. He
showed me a few photos, and it looked like the front axle of a Mack
truck. I know there will be no giving up on this project, as Mr.
Knoebel really wants this vintage resurrection to come to fruition. As
it has been reported, he said that this is a $3 ride. That may be
conservative with all the man-hours that have been invested into the
project. But, whenever it opens, you will see me in the queue.

Guns and Roses released Chinese Democracy this year so I have high
hopes for the Flying Turns in 09.

something like that 8-)

I wish I knew who your inside source is, caus that's not what I
observed during the PPP (or more precisely the day before )
And of course the ride has problems, that's why it isn't opened,
yet.
Did your inside source tell you that the ride was being test ridden
by at least 1 member of the train development crew during the PPP
weekend and that a new idea that they were testing out, seems to have
gotten them by one of the major problems they've been battling all
Summer. ??

sooo, it will be done when it's done lol 8-)
