{wow, a thread w/ the Flying Turns in the subject line, that's
actually about the Flying Turns and Knoebels, ....at least it's starting
that way <g>}

Up at Knoebels this weekend I'm sure I saw a sight that's rare to
see.
Tree stumps, where some clearing is being done, and 1 particular,
large tree, right by the FT, gone.

( for those of you that don't know, Knoebels value their trees like
they're gold. And "we" thank them for that, on hot summer days)

The approximately a dozen tree stumps are in an area behind the
camprground store and clearly mark the path where the new campground
bridge and roadway will be.
This is being done as many of todays campers are having issues with
overhead and ground clearances of the covered bridge entrance

At the Flying Turns site, the tree,
right by the road,
that was supposedly going to send the service run track, out over the
road,
is gone.
In it's place, and out around the outside of the helix structure,
are now the markings for about 2 dozen footing holes.
Marking where the structure for the service run track will be built,
these footers will stick out into the road that goes thru Knoebels by
about 1 ft.
This weekend I was working on digging footings til we got SNOWED out
on Sun
Working on digging footings for the service run is a good sign to me.
It means that the rest of the track is pretty much ready to go.
(functionally, it stills needs alot to be finished)
The controling funnel that was giving "us" the most problems has been
worked out.
It turned out the solution was to begin to regain control of the
train, much earlier in the helix, than anyone originally thought.
Now we're waiting for the train to get a little more finished <weight
wise, car bodies> before doing final track, lift, brake and control
funnel testing w/ the final weight train.

In other Knoebels news
TWISTER is getting a ton of track work
A good portion of the helix as well as various spots here and there
are all getting new wood and steel.
I'm not sure of how visible it will be by the Spring but right now
the green of fresh PT wood stands out clear against the backdrop of
silver/grey old PT wood
