Desperate to go along to Oktoberfest one year,
but as these pictures show, its known to be very crowded.
What are the queue times like to get on rides??
And how many would you expect to ride in a day/evening??
Queue times are very short as they are amongst the highest capacity coasters
anywhere. Eurostar regularly runs four trains (maybe five), and loading
simply cannot be quicker. Same with spin rides - people are let onto Top
Scan's platforms before the ride has dropped and Breakdances slow to a crawl
for loading as opposed to completely stopping. I seem to remember ride times
getting shorter as the queues get longer though.
Expect only 15 minute queues max. A lot of people are there for the
atmosphere, and a lot are there for the drinking.
Regards,
Marcus

HELP SAVE DREAMLAND MARGATE

Most flats had a 1-2 cycle wait on the day of my visit (and this was
on a Saturday- probably just about as busy as it gets there).
High Energy had the longest wait for any flat (being new). Even with
only 30 capacity per cycle, I only waited about 15 min or so.
Olympia Looping had all five trains running, and had a 1-2 train wait
for most seats; 5-6 train wait for the very front; 3-4 train wait
for the very back.
Euro Star had all four trains running, and was about a 5-10 min wait
for most of the day/night.
Star World was for some reason only running one train (does it have
more than one?) It was about a 10 min wait.
Bottom line- with SO many rides, and with rides costing between 2 and
5 euros each, the lines are manageable all day and night, even with
over a million people on the grounds.

Brill!!
May have to drag myself over there next year :-)
I would say if you are only going to Oktoberfest for the rides and
ignoring everything else (the displays at the fair, beer, Munich,
Bavaria, etc.) you should go to Craange or Dusseldorf for the fairs.
For the most part they are the same (or similar) rides, it is just
less people and not the hotel nightmare that is Munich during
Oktoberfest. If you will be spending some time in the area (I find
Bavaria gorgeous and Munich a great city) then by all means hit
Oktoberfest.
