They're going private because SOX sucks. In case you don't know it,
SOX is a bunch of rules and regulations that make running a public
company and PITA. Auditors come in and tell you how your company
should be run. I've seen it first hand, it's a real joke. Goes
all the way down to the IT level. Programmers are not allowed to be
on the production box. Programs have to go through a check list
before being patched to the live box. Only the help desk can patch
out programs. A bunch of red tape BS. The programmers did
nothing wrong, yet they're punished.

I don't blame all these companies for going private. If they're not
making a killing in the stock market (IE: Their stock is not "hot")
then there is no reason to be public. None what so ever.

More and more companies will go private because of the BS SOX
rules.

This is not about SOX. SOX is definately a PITA, but the likely reason
they're going private is that's who has the money to invest. All the other
public businesses and banks are wallowing in debt.

This is mostly about having too much debt going into the recession.
And thinking they were smart enough to find some more money laying
around in the Paramount operations. Which they did not really find.
I mean really, if the Viacom accountants couldn't find an extra
nickel, what was the former hot dog vendor going to find?

Just when I think...ah never mind. Change Control dude. Testing and
even the dreaded TPS reports (Testing Procedure Specification) are
part of todays IT culture. Its not because of sox or anything else
except to keep production up and your job intact. But you go ahead
and throw untested code out there on production boxes and get back
with me on that one. I am sure you will be fine. (Programmers did
nothing wrong......sheesh.)

Everything happening these days is to turn control over to the
government.

Unions, taxes, regulations, you name it. All designed to take
private business away.

CF is trying to stop this by going private now.
