I thought it was a gigantic waste of time and VERY dull.

It clearly was a chick flix, more focused on a political point of view
than an actual plot.

I was very impressed with the visuals, and equally disapointed with
the film and experience.

My $.02

Hi Tom,

I personally thought the animation was fantastic. I didn't view the
film as being anything like a "chick flick." Yeah, the plot wasn't as
complex as it could have been but the overall experience was good.
For me, the 2.5 hours flew by. Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much.

I wouldn't call it a chick flick, but once I got the stunning visuals
and filmmaking craft, I found to story to have not much more depth
than Disney's Lion King and Pocahontas. Basically it's a white guilt
fantasy story: white outsider regrets the way his people have
exploited the defenseless natives, becomes a part of their culture,
eventually becoming their most awesome member, and then helping them
finally stand up against the people he used to be apart of. This has
been a theme in a lot of movies recently, including similar science
fiction parables for white guilt such as District 9.

Story-wise? Derivative as hell and a little preachy.

Technology-wise? Holy shit.

But District 9 had characters, a plot, and some depth.

It also had a bumbling, morally ambiguous main character.

If you're not wow'd by the movie, you should be wow'd by the box
office intake.

I saw on the news that it's already taken in over 1 BILLION
worldwide. <and that's just so far>

Oh, and to keep things on topic, How long before there's an
Avatar: the ride ??

( I suppose w/ all of the flying scenes that it would lend itself well
to a heavily themed roller coaster)

Naturally cased cured meat in tube form? Pony Express? Are we still
