Yep: Appears Dejanews is Upgrading their System,
and the Scam Artist like K9...@dejanews.com and
others are taking advantage of it, so for the newcomers
to rec.radio, here is some helpful information

ITS TIME AGAIN.....I have been seeing person(s) being ripped off by Scam Artist
time and again, and thought the following might help...Please be advised that
this is a "Personal" point of view and may or may not reflect the views of
others.

Especially Scam Artist!

1. KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH !!!

a) Ask for Full name
b) Ask for a Home Address
c) Ask for a Home Phone Number
d) Ask for a Work Phone Number
e) Ask for a work address
f)) Ask for "Special" licenses, like a "Ham" license, CET
certificate, Radio telephone license, ect ( Make sure
the data matches)

2. ASK FOR REFERENCIES !! AND I MEAN ASK !!!!!!!! Time and again a
simple inquiry about a few transactions that may have taken place
will
(and) can save you thousands of dollars.

a) Ask the person(s) how "long" they have been
trading/swapping on the NewsGroups.
b) Ask about "current" and past transactions on the net, and the
Email address of who the trade was made with.
c) Ask if they are a dealer, and check with telephone
information in the city the address is in, and make a inquiry as to
if its valid.

3. ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE EQUIPMENT !! AND AGAIN ASK !!!!!!

a) How old is the Equipment/Material
b) Is it operational ??
c) On a Scale from 0-10, 10 being New, How would it
rate?
d) Has it ever been repaired before?
e) Why are you selling it?
f) Does it have the "Original" Model and SERIAL
numbers? Be vary carefull of equipment with Serial numbers
missing!!! It could mean it is STOLEN equipment!!
g) Will the person selling the equipment stand by the
purchase for a short period of time....This is especially
helpfull on "High End" items..

NOTE: On frequency sensitive equipment, make sure its in the range you may be
interested in !!

Use Common sense!! Would you spend $1000's of your hard earned monies on a
piece of junk??? I see person(s) doing that at AUCTIONS all the time...What a
waste.

3. NOW TO THE "MONIES". WHEN DEALING ON THE NEWSGROUPS, THIS IS A
TOUCHY SUBJECT.

a) BEWARE OF THE $25.00-$50.00 Scams......They are hard to collect
on when a deal falls through.

b) BEWARE OF CODS AND BE CAREFULL WHEN SENDING MONEY ORDERS IN
ADVANCE.

Personally, I do not support COD'S for the following reasons: (Many Disagree)

1. Deals on the NewsGroups can change at anytime, and when
one goes to the trouble of making a post, replying, packing, making
labels, insuring, paying for COD costs, standing in line at the
Shipper locations, only to learn that the person has changed
theirmind, this can cost the shipper not only the time and effort,
but monies as well, not to mention weeks that may pass
before the goods are returned.

2. There is NO GUARANTEE that even if you ship a item COD with
special provisions for "CASH" only that you will get your funds. If
by some chance the driver takes a Check in place of Cash Only, and
the check bounces, you may spend weeks trying to
collect on a $25.00-$50.00 from a bad check.. Most just give up, and
the Scam Artist love it!! Sometimes they get away with
$1000's on worthless checks.

3. If you should to elect to ship COD, one can expect a time
period from 1-4 weeks before you can expect your monies if you are
the shipper. And "UPS" is the worst of them all !! I have found
they keep "Checks" and "Cash" for the same period of time
which can be weeks...Can you imagine the amout of
interest they collect on the Cash monies they receive
on COD's for a period of 20-30 days ?? I sure can !!

4. When one "takes the time" to send a Money Order, it proves to
the seller that the "buyer" is serious, and "locks" in the deal.
All in all, AGAIN, use Common Sense....If the deal sounds to
good to be true,
(It probably will be a sour one), If you ask the " right
questions" in a polite manor, you can easily weed out the SCAM
ARTIST...".If" they do not give you
the information, or you feel uneasy>>>DO NOT SEND THE
MONIES !!!!, If you do, Blame Yourself, and not others as you have
been warned!!!

Also, " NOT" everyone is a Scam Artist, and many (including myself)
receive a enormus amount of "Flack" over these points, so again, "USE" your own
best
judgement, and hopefully, things will get better, as these Scam Artists make if
tough for all !! SCAM ARTIST "HATE" POST LIKE THIS ONE> AND MANY TIMES WILL
REPLY WITH A NEGITIVE RESPONSE, BUT SINCE THIS NEWSGROUP IS IMPORTANT TO
THOUSANDS, MAYBE THEY (SCAM ARTISTS) WILL GO ELSEWHERE !!!

Additional thoughts:

I prefere PrePayment in advance on the first time arround, and even
sometimes the second. When Payment is received in advance, it then
becomes the "Sellers" responsibility to get the package to the sender of the
funds in a timely manor. Please note, that many things can happen in 2-3 days.
Sometimes a Computer can crash, sometimes a emergency can occur, somtimes one
can get sick, so again there is No 100% guarantee that one can get there
package unless both parties are "responsible" people. But I have found most
transactions that are handled properly, they can be closed
in just a few days, and both are satisfied....Makes good business (and good
sense).............

Amy Baby;

Ditto to you on the BANDWIDTH (not BANDWITH you
ninny). You should talk, Beware of Ray BLA BLA BLA
all the weeks long. Look in the mirror you BANDWIDTH
abuser.

At least I'm serving more than just my
self interests here, with my posts. Monty Sisco must be
stopped. He is the Cancer that is ruining the good
traders/sellers on these groups. The man is a psycho
full of a lot of BS & hot air to say the least!!!!!!!
I'm not the only one that is sick of Monty S.

Yep;

That's Monty talk for you, "NATIONAL SCAM ARTIST",
Sounds impressive doesn't it. I must have hit some nerves.
I'm surprised he spelt it all correctly.

Where do you get off with this stuff Monty? I
have never scamed anybody into anything. I admit
however, I have warned people of, OUT OF LINE
OVER PRICING, which prevented sales to OVER PRICED
ABUSERS, like your self. But to say I scamed anyone,
that's a lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you should say
what you really mean. K9DON NATIONAL OVERPRICED
LOOK OUT ARTIST.

If I had the time, I would sue you for this
slanderous remark. But I know you are already
involved in so many, self inflected lawsuit's because
of your temper and slanderous remarks. Mine would
just get pushed to the back of your, ever growing
legal pile. By the time the courts got to it, you
would be long gone.

Watch out for the OVER PRICED Monty Sisco
train, it's out for your pocket books.

If Monty's got it, you can buy the same quality
item for 1/2 as much money, or less, somewhere else,
GUARANTEED!!!

From the information I have received, you
have about 7-10 days left....

And by the way, I do not have to "Hide"

providers, and Fake Names.....
