Well, in the U.S., where the average number of SW sets per SW owner is
probably 5 or more, that translates to a much smaller actual
audience. In poorer countries, the tables may be turned - you may
have 15 or 20 people listening to a single village radio.

How many listeners does the BBC World service have? I'd say that is your
most likely source of a realish number. Add a correction factor for
assholes who don't listen to the BBC (probably the same 20% who like
Sara Palin and think Obama's from the country of Africa).

Even if she tuned in to BBC programs , I doubt she will follow what in
the world they are talking about . Too complicated for her little
head . Most likely - she listens to KAYO radio .

If all that matters is the actual content of the broadcast, why bother
with expensive receivers and equipment, difficult antennas, fading,
popping, static, random noise, etc. Most notable SW is also provided
online in perfect clarity ...
