OT: The Great Tea Party Depression Deepens (growth <3% isn't growth)

Consider that back in 1934, when it was emerging from the deepest hole
of the Great Depression, the economy grew 7.7 percent. The next year it
grew over 8 percent. In 1936 it grew a whopping 14.1 percent.

Add two other ominous signs: Real hourly wages continue to fall, and
housing prices continue to drop. Hourly wages are falling because with
unemployment so high, most people have no bargaining power and will take
whatever they can get. Housing is dropping because of the ever-larger
number of homes people have walked away from because they can't pay
their mortgages. But because homes the biggest asset most Americans own,
as home prices drop most Americans feel even poorer.

There's no possibility government will make up for the coming shortfall
in consumer spending. To the contrary, government is worsening the
situation. State and local governments are slashing their budgets by
roughly $110 billion this year. The federal stimulus is ending, and the
federal government will end up cutting some $30 billion from this year's
budget.

In other words: Watch out. We may avoid a double dip but the economy is
slowing ominously, and the booster rockets are disappearing.

So why aren't we getting the truth about the economy? For one thing,
Wall Street is buoyant -- and most financial news you hear comes from
the Street. Wall Street profits soared to $426.5 billion last quarter,
according to the Commerce Department. (That gain more than offset a drop
in the profits of non-financial domestic companies.) Anyone who believes
the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill put a stop to the Street's
creativity hasn't been watching.

To the extent non-financial companies are doing well, they're making
most of their money abroad. Since 1992, for example, G.E.'s offshore
profits have risen $92 billion, from $15 billion (which is one reason it
pays no U.S. taxes). In fact, the only group that's optimistic about the
future are CEOs of big American companies. The Business Roundtable's
economic outlook index, which surveys 142 CEOs, is now at its highest
point since it began in 2002.

Washington, meanwhile, doesn't want to sound the economic alarm. The
White House and most Democrats want Americans to believe the economy is
on an upswing.

In regards to shutting down the government, the media has been saying
that Cry-Baby Boehner is afraid to compromise on the budget because of
his fear of the Tea Party. Why are the few Tea-Baggers controlling the
majority of the 'regular' Republicans? Isn't that like the tail wagging

Easy. Because Boehner really wants what the tea party wants, as do the
the republicons in general.

We really need to be careful we don't cut ourselves back into a
recession, like they did in UKoGBNIaW.

A Republican guy (he retired from the Army because of diabetes) used to

Fog may have been a factor. This morning at about 7:20 AM in Bolivar
County,Missy Sippi, an 18 wheeler collided with a school bus.A ten year
old girl was killed, all of the other 29 school bus passengers were
injurid, some seriously injuried. They were all rushed to University
Medical Hospital in Jackson. The school bus had Stopped (unlike Dime Bag
Laura Bush in Midland,Texas Failed to Stop at that STOP sign and she
Killed her boyfriend!) at a Stop Sigh, then was moving out when the 18
wheeler truck driver saw the schoolbus. He hit the brakes, but just
couldn't Stop in time.

This is backwater hick Missy Sippy, so Who Cares? I Guarantee you if
that had happened in the 'Outside World',,, it would have been Instant
Breaking News everywhere.Especially in New England.

I would buy any lawn mower too, new or used, as long as it isn't Brit

About half an hour ago, I was taking a real Good looksee at my old lawn
mower.Where the left rear corner of the frame is rusted and rotted out,
it's wayyyy to Shot for fixin. The engine still runs real Good though. I
reckon next week I will check a few lawn mower shops and see if they
have an old junk lawn mower (the blade on mine is about 19 or 20 sumpin
inches long) they are going to throw away, or I can buy for a few
dollars.

If it isn't a red color (my lawn mower is red) lawn mower frame, I will
buy a cheap spray can of red paint.I wouldn't want that old country boy
from Edwards,Mississippi knows all about chainsaws (he BROKE! my
chainsaw!.He couldn't even find the oil drain plug on his own lawn mower
