SkyWire Loop Antenna [Was: Wire loop.] Question

If both ends are coming together to form a Loop :
Then it is Balanced and can be feed directly via
Ladder Line or Coax Cable. With Coax Cable as a
Feed-Line; you could also use a 1:1 Matching
Transformer (Balun) if the Loop is going to be
used for both Tx & Rx.

NOTE - 240 Feet of wire puts you at about 4.2 MHz
with a SkyWire Loop Antenna.

FWIW - If this Loop Antenna is 'only' for Receiving
then a 4:1 Matching Transformer (Balun) could be use
with Coax Cable as a Feed-in-Line.

SKYWIRE LOOP ANTENNA :
This type of Large and Low Loop Antenna is generally
called a SkyWire Loop Antenna. There is a specific
group for builders and users of SkyWire Loop Antennas
on YAHOO ! => http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SkyWires/

This group is for people interested in building and
using a Sky-Wire Loop Antenna
SKYWIRE => http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SkyWires/

This group is for the Radio Experimenter who wants
to Learn and Exchange their Knowledge and 'secrets'
about the SkyWire Loop Antenna.

Hi.

I am new to the group but have been a Ham band swl
for 51 years - I would like subscriber's views on
the following topic please --.

I am about to erect a 240 ft wire square loop eg
60 feet per leg, the loop will only be around
10 feet high and will be used as a secondary antenna
- what is the best way to feed it should it be fed
as an unbalanced or balanced antenna !!
my atu will handle both balanced and unbalanced antennas
!!.

any thanks.

Terry !! West Yorkshire !!.
