Does a Sony PRO80 manual exist?

Sony parts insists that they don't have a manual for the PRO80. Is this
true? It's hard to believe that they don't have a manual for this radio.
If someone has a copy could you send me the part number?

Make sure you use the whole model number.... ICF-Pro80.

About 3 years ago, I ordered an owner's manual AND a service manual
for the Pro-80 through a
local Sony parts distributor. Sony gave them all sorts of grief and I
rode them to keep the
pressure on.

6 months later, the manuals arrived.... they were photocopies of the
originals. Apparently Sony in
Japan has no original manuals left for sale and can only provide
photocopies on special order.
This is similar to Icom, which provides reasonably-priced copies of
manuals for equipment that is
over 7-8 years old.

I will try to remember to check for a part number on those manuals and
pass them along. If I am
lucky, the original Sony "pick-tags" may still be attached.

Here are the part numbers of the Sony manuals for the ICF-PRO80
receiver. I am posting this info on the newsgroup for the reference
of others.

Operating Instructions (©1987): p/n 3-990-095-12 (2)

Service Manual (©1988): p/n 9-952-864-12

I ordered these back in 1996 and received an original Operating
Instruction manual, but a photocopy of the Service Manual.

The Service Manual has a credit on the back-cover which reads
"Sony Audio Group", which I thought was a little odd (unless they
lump their radios in with their hi-fi equipment!).
