We get Tom Leykis on 710-KMPC in Los Angeles, between 3 and 7 pm.
"Liberal Rush" he's not. Leykis seems so deadpan serious, even bitter at
times to me. He comes across more like a liberal Bob Larson (without all
the funding appeals). . . .
I've also heard Jim Hightower, on Sunday mornings on KGO San Francisco.
His show is more "Rush-like", with parody music, humor and the like. (He
picks on President Clinton about as much as Rush does, too)

Hey, there's a name I haven't heard in a while! What's he up to now?
How many times has he "lost [LA, Denver, Detroit, Philadelphia,...]"?
What amazes me about this guy is many of the stations he's on are
commercial, so why he doesn't get a national sales agent is beyond me.
Even USA Radio News, whose broadcasts appear both on comm and non-comm
stations, has national advertising. (non-comm stations just cover it w/
PSA's and the like.) It is also a fundamental Christian-oriented
broadcast, so I really can't imagine Larson would have any fundamental
(excuse the pun) opposition to advertising.
Oh well... Such is the MO of evangelists w/ questionable motives.

Tom Leykis has been doing talk radio for a while. In the last
few years he has been in Phoenix, LA, Boston and now LA again. He has
done some guest host stuff on WLUP.
Whatever you think of Leykis' personal style, he is considered
to be of the "Libertarian" persuasion.
He and Larry King seem to be having a contest to see how many
wives they can get through. Rush Limbaugh is now on Wife number 3, so
maybe he should be in the "most married talk show host" contest too.
Leykis follows the successful formula of the "angry man" host.
This seems a successful strategy as it is controversial. The best
exponent of angry man in LA is Bill Handel (KFI Mornings).

Yeah. I like him when he's telling personal stories, but not when he
goes off on a tirade. The talk host I'd like to see go national (and I
think it's in the works at present, too) is Joe Crummey, formerly of KFI,
and now probably on KMPC in LA. Intelligent nice guy, liberal (as much
as any broadcaster dares to be today, which isn't all that liberal), and
he's easy on the ears. Crummey is a good contrast to the brash Leykis
style. There's also Jim Hightower, and while I agree more with him than
anyone else in national talkradio, unfortunately, the folksy style won't
get him many affiliates.

San Francisco this summer; always something fun to do
Hi!!
I was the Bob Larson Board Operator in St. Louis.....and he almost lost
us about once a quarter......but we would have NEVER lost him!! despite
the station consistently barely showing up in the ratings....we would
still have a very good billing KXEN AM1010 with a 50kw signal. I remember
when he performed the excorsism and i had calls from as far away as
Alabama asking for a copy of the show!!!!! That was an actually scary
show.....should have been on Halloween (BBBBOOOOO)). Anyhoo he was on
AM 770 out of Sacramento last I heard (in your neck of the woods) and of
course you caould call the 1800 operator at 1800-555-1212 and ask for the
Bob Larson Ministries phone number. Just a word or two on Bobbo!!
