New Web-Page Antennas & Planning
A new web-page can be found on the NZART Web-Site at:
http://www.nzart.org.nz/anten-plan/index.html
Antennas and Planning contains information relating to local authority
planning and how it affects amateur radio antenna installations.
The current issues are
a) Wellington City District Plan Change No 74
Submissions have been made and further submissions close on 4 December.
A proforma further submission will appear on the web-site in a day or so,
and all amateurs, whether NZART members or not, are invited to make a
further submission.
You can use the proforma or write your own further submission.
b) Proposed Taurange District Plan
Submissions close on 15 December. A summary will be published and further
submissions will then be invited.
Remember -- these are the only opportunities we get to persuade the Councils
to meet our reasonable needs, so that antenna installations can be erected
as permitted uses, and without the problems that can occur with overly
restrictive planning rules and vexatious neighbours.
Visit these pages often to keep abreast of ongoing planning developments.
For further information email mne...@nzart.org.nz

Updates from NZART Monitoring Service Coordinator
VU2UR B.L. Manohar was not re-elected recently for Region 3 Monitoring
Service Coordinator.
He has been replaced by Peter Young, VK3MV Australia E-mail: sp...@tpg.com.au
By the way were you aware that New Zealand actually had OTHR (Over The
Horizon Radar) transmitter sites?
They are part of the SuperDarn system which includes the Unwin A and B
systems from New Zealand.

NZART World Wide Web
URLs Changes
>From Q-Bit for November 2009, the Newsletter of the Wellington VHF Group
NZART Branch 74, comes the following, found at the bottom of page 4:
"REMIT 2
THAT, the FMTAG Coordination Procedure be amended to enable public scrutiny
of applications by use of modem technology, such as notice via NZART
website, and public response via email.
Explanation: The purpose of this remit is to overcome the frustration caused
by the delay of notice due to the two-month cycle of Break-In magazine."
With the activity increase expected for the Antennas and Planning, The NZART
Monitoring Service and the possible change in use of the FMTAG pages, it was
time to bring about a change to the NZART Web pages, related to these three
items, as they had been tucked away under a general folder 'nz'.
Effective immediately the following URLs have changed:
Local Government has now been renamed to ANTENNAS AND PLANNING
Antennas & Planning is at http://www.nzart.org.nz/anten-plan/index.html
(was http://www.nzart.org.nz/nz/locgvt.html)
FMTAG is at http://www.nzart.org.nz/fmtag/index.html
(was http://www.nzart.org.nz/nz/fmtag.html)
MS (Monitoring Service) is at http://www.nzart.org.nz/ms/index.html
(was http://www.nzart.org.nz/nz/ms.html)
The data is stored in a folder, below the main folder, with a name of the
current year. For example, the October 2009 FMTAG Notes, would have an
address of:
http://www.nzart.org.nz/fmtag/2009/oct.html, when the notes were given the
name of 'oct.html'.
A redirection has been made on the original address as have the files for
each address.
Progress Report on Transferring the NZART Web and E-mail Services to NZ
The physical position of the NZ server is Lower Hutt, not that it matters
where it is located in NZ. The web is up and running and has been checked
and tested successfully for some months now.
Getting e-mail successfully running has been the cause of the delay in
transferring the service over, but progress is being made.
The NZART member e-mail alias service is still up and running on the USA
server and is offered for any current or future member to join. Use e-mails
NZAR...@NZART.ORG.NZ, WEBM...@NZART.ORG.NZ or ZL...@NZART.ORG.NZ to
request to join the service.
