Might be worth noting this:
Verifiable on the RSGB website:
Exams:
Foundation £27.50 Intermediate £32.50 Full £37.50
Books:
Foundation Licence Now! £4.99 non members, £3.74 members
Intermediate Licence £6.99 non members, £5.24 members
Advance £11.99 non members, £8.99 members
Additional course fees vary depending on venue costs.
To go from nowt to full would cost at least £115.47 without either the course
fees or the RSGB membership to get the book discounts upon which this
figure is calculated. Some book fees may be shaved by being clever with
Amazon's second hand marketplace.
Makes the Irish exam look a bloody bargain, doesn't it?
(Thanks to Fred Roberts for the above information)(very slightly edited).

Dublin Bus offers an express AirLink service (route 747) every 10 minutes
at peak times to the city centre and bus station for €6 or €10 return.
This service uses the Dublin Port Tunnel to avoid the city traffic and can
reach the city centre in minutes.

The nearest stop to the ComReg offices appears to be that in
Cathal Brugha St., about half-a-mile to the north.

Use a budget airline, sit one 2-hour exam, and get a HAREC for less than £100, depending on
your location...and the UK Full (Reciprocal) licence is indistinguishable
from any other UK Full licence over the air. Do the 12wpm in Eire and get
a swanky two-letter Irish call as well, which could assist in overcoming the minor annoyances of the Reciprocal.
It's also a licence for life, validatable every five years to any postal address in the world.
Much better than all that faffing about with a specially-arranged weekend (has
anyone costed this? I bet they daren't publish the figures) to do all
three of the current UK exams and their associated tests, appreciations
and other irritating obstacles.
