I recently purchesed this HT and I'm having trouble with the
squelch. When I turn the radio on, the static on the channel will
sound. I then turn the squelch up until the static goes away (almost
all the way up) and then if I turn the squelch back down, the static
doesn't come back even with the squelch off. If I transmit with
another HT right next to it, it still won't recieve. The signal meter
will go up, but no sound. I have checked the battery (7.8 V out of
7.2) and the DTMF squelch is off. The guy I bought it from says it
was working fine when he had it and it was packed well for shipping.
Am I missing something simple here? Any help appriciated.

Something real simple, I'm sorry to say. It's broke.

Hi Joshua,
I also have a HTX202 and I find that the radio is very sensitive on the
receive side. I also have an HTX404 and when I xmit on that radio, my
HTX202 sometimes comes on with static so I have to give it alittle more
squelch.
From the sounds of it Joshua, you may have to pay a visit to a repair
shop.

Good luck
