Meteor Scatter: November 2009. Leonids Outburst expected!!!
Like in 2008, another Leonids Outburst is expected in 2009! The
maximum is predicted to occur on November 17th, with an Outburst
around 21-22 UT (ZHR up to 200 hr-1 or even more). Unfortunately,
the Leonids radiant elevation will be very low over Europe during
predicted time of maximum, thus leading to poor perceived meteor
rates. But after radiant rise, meteor flux should still be
remarkable, thus providing good rocks also for european MS
enthusiasts. Read more about Leonids and other meteor showers in
November 2009 at our MS-Page: http://www.mmmonvhf.de/ms.php
As well an review about the ORIONIDS 2009 are given there...

Space Weather News, Oct. 25, 2009
BIG SUNSPOT: The sun is showing signs of life. Sunspot 1029
emerged over the weekend, and it is crackling with B- and C-class
solar flares. The active region's magnetic polarity identifies it
as a member of new Solar Cycle 24. If its growth continues apace,
sunspot 1029 could soon become the biggest sunspot of 2009.
Check http://spaceweather.com for animations and updates.
SUNSPOT UPDATE: Since it emerged last weekend, new-cycle sunspot
1029 has become the biggest and most active sunspot of 2009.
It is crackling with B- and C-class solar flares and putting on
a good show for amateur astronomers. This one sunspot does not
put an end to solar minimum, but it is a remarkable break from
the calm. SOURCE: http://spaceweather.com

*** G0HGA VHF/UHF CW Activity 2010 ***
Angie, G0HGA FISTS # 41 became Silent Key earlier this year. In
her memory there is a One year activity designed to promote CW
activity on the VHF / UHF Frequencies. Angie was a staunch advocate
of CW on these frequencies and it is felt the activity is a fitting
tribute to her. Please do welcome the details from Rob, M0BPT at:

Still EME Activity from 5N0EME in Nigeria the next weeks ...
I promised to be more QRV and already showed up from time to time
during the week. Unfortunately condx have not been that good and
activity was rather low. Most QSOs were dupes but at least it showed
me that I am still to hear. I herewith announce my probably last
activity under 5N0EME. We are coming close to the end and step by
step we need to prepare our return to Switzerland. Please take the
chance and try to work me. I will have to pack up things and make
everything ready for shipping, even so I might still stay until
end of November. Here my operating dates:
Saturday 31.October: 1545z-2000z on 144.105(+/-) JT65B tx 1st
Sunday 01.November: 1800z-2000z on 1296.090 JT65C tx 1st
I will have the N0UK logger running while operating but cant
promise that I can follow all the traffic as it requires quite
some time. It will be the last 23cm EME activity from here. I
will take the dish apart soon. I hope to still get some new
stations in the log. On 23cm I would be happy to work some CW
as well. You may contact me at the HB9Q logger if you like. vy 73
