King Arthur and LM Boyd

I just received this tidbit from LM Boyd

King Arthur legends come from ancient tales. Recent
translations reveal he met with his followers in a
"tabled rotunda," a sort of temple. Understandable how
"tabled rotunda" came down as "round table." But the
fellow had no round table, evidently.
