So I am putting in a concrete pool and coating it with a marble mix
plaster. It is a formal pool design, 4 feet deep, but elevated 1 foot
and contained by a sitting wall. The BIG question is "What color should
the plaster be to really show off the fish?"
Should be pouring concrete this coming Saturday!
Thanks in advance!
Dave
PS Take a look at the work in progress.

The idea of algae covering all the surfaces in not entirely correct. My
ponds are white, blue, and black, and all 32 inches deep. My ponds are
100plus interconnecting ponds, to the tune about 1,000 gallons total.
The sides of my ponds are straight so the sides are 32 inches to the bottom.
In any event, the penetrating light of the sun only gets through about 18
inches of the water depth, falling off the further it penetrates. My ponds
are always crystal clear and you can read the mint stamp of a dime at the
bottom. So the only algae on the pond sides start tampering off about the
14 inch depth. If your lilies grow like mine and cover the surface
extensively then the algae on the sides goes down the sides even less.
I may get a collection of dirt on the bottom, but never algae.

Wow great eyes, I can hardly read the mint stamp when I hold it! I would love
to see pics of 100 10 gallon ponds LOL sorry about the typo couldn't

But you forgot the one about the algae "tampering" with the ponds :-)

I was in a hurry and didn't proof read my message. To clarify my message
there are 5 - 100 gallon ponds, and 2 - 250 gallon ponds connected by
waterfalls (cascades). Water is taken from the last pond and pumped up
about 8 feet to a wet/dry filter system of bioballs, furnace filter media,
and a tray of oyster grit to maintain KH in the ponds. The water is sprayed
into the lid of the filter ensuring plenty of oxygen for the biofiltraion.
As far as the tampering goes, it should have read tapering. So the sentence
should have read, "So the only algae on the pond sides start tapering off
about the 14 inch depth."
Jerri, I used to have eagle eyes when I was younger now I wear trifocal
glasses, but on a windless day and no water movement on the surface I can
still read the dime's mint insignia while it lays on the bottom. With my
glasses on, of course.
