Plant Name: Texas Dawn. Second year in the pond. Pond is about
500 gallons, with a good amount of shade. Zone 7, Atlanta area.
It has had roughly 50 7-9" pads on the surface most of the year,
with about a dozen blooms. Pond depth is about 20" where the
plant is located. Water is clear, fish, frogs etc. are doing fine.
No insects are visible above or below the pads. Can someone identify
the problem (if in fact this is a problem) and suggest a fix.
I have enjoyed reading this NG. Thanks
Paul, Have you been suffering cool nights down in the low 50s, High
40s? I've notice some strange things with my lilies since the weather
cooled off.

Jan,
You are on the right track. Cooler night air in the fall will result
in new grow being miss-shapen. In the spring, when Plants wake up and begin
to grow, it is often difficult to identify the lilies by the color and
shapes of the leaves until the water temp. stays above a certain level,
even at night.
What you are seeing now is the water lily beginning to notice the change
of season, and it is reacting to it.
So it goes.

<sob, sob> Thanks, Mike. I figured the weather had a lot to do with
it, when I Tropical Lily keeps sending up flower that now no longer
open. Nothing else has changed, but the cool nights. <sob, sob, it was
soooo pretty> (jan talking to her T.lily, "So it's not 'home sweet
home,' ADJUST! Dang It!)
