The Canon Powershot S400 Digital Camera was released in February 2003.
The said Canon digital camera is the latest in line of Canon's ultra-
compact PowerShot series, this camera packs a 4 mega pixel antenna and
3x optical zoom lens into a parcel the same size as PowerShot S230
(three megapixels, two times zoom, announced in September 2002).
Unlike the former Canon Camera Powershot's S400 Digital camera
disposes with the 'looks dirty easily' stainless steel case to be
replaced with an all new 'Cerabrite' material which is a mix of metal
and ceramic. The said camera is still fresh to the touch, and it
doesn't show up fingerprints and doesn't scratch easily.
The said Canon powershot features a three times, 7.4-22.2mm glass zoom
lens, equivalent to a 36-108mm zoom on a 35mm camera. Opening is
repeatedly controlled, but the utmost setting ranges from f/2.8 at
complete broad angle to f/4.9 at filled telephoto. A limit 3.6x
digital zoom choice increases the said camera's zoom capabilities to
eleven times, but remain in mind that digital zoom decreases the
generally picture quality in straight percentage to the enlargement
achieved, as it merely crops away and enlarges the middle pixels of
the CCD image. Image noise is likely to be more prominent with digital
zoom, and details softer.
The focus ranges from one point five feet or 46 cms. to infinity in
normal AF mode, and from 2.0 inches to 1.5 feet (5 to 46 centimeters)
in Macro mode. An Infinity fixed-focus mode is also available. The
S400 uses Canon's classy, nine-point AiAF (Artificial Intelligence
Autofocus) structure to resolve focus, which examines a wide dynamic
area in the midpoint of the picture to estimate the central
detachment. Also built into the camera is a bright AF assist light,
which aids the spotlight device in low lighting. For composing
similes, the camera has a real-image visual viewfinder, as well as a
1.5-inch color LCD monitor. The LCD information is a fair quantity of
camera information, but excludes contact information such as space and
secure speed. In Playback style, a histogram display reports the tonal
distribution of a captured representation, helpful in decisive several
above and underexposure.
In usual use, the said Canon digital camera S400 produces very first-
class pictures, with a small number of sacrifices in value virtual to
better consumer cameras. Powershot of Cannon DIGIC image mainframe and
iSAPS scene-recognition equipment will overwhelmed us, delivering a
higher-than-average proportion of shots with right disclosure and
truthful white balance. Its metaphors seem to be much sharper than
standard, on a similar with its sibling the PowerShot S45, and the
test shots had outstanding feature in the midtones, with no apparent
feature in the things to see or gloom. As with most Canon cameras,
this camera is automatic in white balance and produces an excessively
orange cast under tungsten lights, but the tungsten white-balance
predetermined and physical improvement handled tungsten-lit scenes
very well. In addition, the said camera's metering system and flash is
well handled in the side-lit test scene, delivering even light without
blowing out the lighted quarter.
