For anyone who missed my previous post, I have a selection of landscape
photos of the U.K. at:-

Comments welcome.

(My apologies to anyone who has visited this site already, as they won't
find any new pictures there!)

Regards,
Rob Herrett

Great shots, very artistic and moody. I'm very impressed. My only
complaint is that the images are a little on the small side. It would
be nice if they were a bit bigger, say 750x500.

I recommend that anyone who hasn't seen this site should take a look.

If he had them in the size you mention it would be a license to steal.

No photographer trying to sell their work would put it in those sizes.

Well I am and I do. 750x500 is nowhere near large enough for any
professional application.

I liked many of your images. No real critique to offer other than I wish a few
of them had a stronger center of interest. My fave was the Derwater(?) shot -
2nd row, 1st shot. Very nice

OOPS!

No offense meant!

It all depends how you define "professional" use.

The size you mentioned is more than ample for multimedia use.

I make a sizable portion of my income solely from multimedia sales. And
we're talking 640x480 (copy protected) images here.

People forget that there are many ways to make money from photos. If you
mean for "print" use, then well, maybe. I've had smaller images taken
from my web site, resampled, and used in ads (I'll send you a copy of
the ad if you want). In the end I was paid standard ad rates for the
use, but only because I caught them.

My point here isn't intended to belittle anyone for the size of the
images they choose to post on the web. Think of it more as a friendly
warning from a comrade in arms. Never give away for free what you can
sell. It devalues us all...

Just a thought.

I do but there are ways to track stolen images.

I *love* these photos. I love any photo that makes me feel something.
You're right, these are very "moody" and I only wish I can shoot like this
someday ...

How do YOU track them?

Not with Digimarc's overpriced and ineffective spider, I hope.

I haven't yet found an effective way of doing it, so I hope you can
enlighten us all.
