Lens cleaning

Hey I think I learned somthin new,
One of my favorite lenses has somehow gotten some kinda oily film on it
since I dont use any type of cleaner on my lenses I was just breathing
on it trying to get this oily film of and it simply was not getting the
job done , I was really getting upset as this is one of my favorite
lenses!!man I was upset!!
So I decided to just calm down a little and try again in little while,
so I went and had about 4 shots Of Jack Daniels and sat down and
relaxed a little,, In a little bit I went back and went to work on my
lens , and sure enough taking a break helped because now I realy
couldnt see where the lens was all that bad!
So I just breathed on it gently again and wiped it of and low and
behold it was perfect!I mean PERFECT!I couldnt See not one speck of
dust , lint , or smudge any where!!Hell I even found the reflection of
my self in the glass to be perfect..
Any way It was getting late so I went to bed . I was thinking about it
the next morn when I got up about 10:00am and have decided it must have
been the alcohol on my breath that helped me get the lens so clean!!
Problem is I seem to have miss placed the lens so I havnt been able to
check it it the morning light to see if realy is as clean as I think it
is.. Will Try again tonight with a diferent lens to see if it really
works since I cant seem to find that damn thing I cleaned last night

This Is a follow up on my lense cleaning situation
I am kinda confused now about exactly what I did last night.
Since I took the day of today because for some reason I feel kinda bad
( monstor headace )and I over slept 3hrs, I went to look for that lens
again and to clean up from my little project.
it seems that all my lenses are here even my favorite one and its still
yucky? Oh and I guess I had more Jack Daniels than I thought because I
found 8 shot glasses when I was cleaning up and the bottle is empty?
Not at all sure what I cleaned but I still think the alcohol theory has
some merit because all 8 of the shot glasses are very clean and shiny,(
almost like some one sat and polished them for hours)
Any way I am still trying to figure out what I cleaned last night, I
guess I must have 7 lenses but I swear I just have 6.
Will let ya know when I figure it out ,

I guess I owe every one an apology,
I talked to my husband about my lenses and he said I never did go back
and work on them.
Acording to him I just sat around and drank Jack Daniels and walked
around with shot glasses on my eyes like monacles making a fool out of
myself. He said the shot glasses were clean because I only used one and
then started drinking out of the bottle and kept breathing on the shot
glasses and wipeing them of with a paper towell and asking him if it
didnt look better now.

Well my lens is still nasty , dont know what is on it butI sent my
husband to take in for a cleaning,
I am sorry but Im not gonna be able to tell you if this theory works or
not because I aint never gonna drink again

Lately I've found that Listerine is safer, cheaper and tastes better (but stay away from the blue stuff). I stopped doing this kind of thing one morning when my wife came down into the basement darkroom, where I had spent the night, and found me lying on my back in the middle of the floor with my arms crossed over my chest. Her scream made a lasting impression.

use a lens-cleaning solution (cheap at most photo stores) and some lens
tissue...takes a few minutes, but you can get lenses and filters darned
clean, and as an added benefit, still walk straight afterwards.
