Even though I lost the D300 I had a redundant backup system, so I have been able to salvage most of the shots from my African trip. It is good to be home. On the weekend I saw a guy win an amateur photo comp. He is employed full time by a photographer as a second shooter. Got me wondering what exactly is an amateur photographer? I would have thought it was someone that made no or little money from their hobby.

OK, here's the new mandate for the Shoot In, due January 17th, 2010. Let's simplify things this month. Drag out those 50mm primes and shoot a pic using nothing but that, or whatever lens you have that provides the equivilant angle of view of, yes, 46.8 degrees. Use a zoom if you like, but lock it at "50." Fire at will...... more »

I could not find the MH-30 user manual anywhere. There is a "refresh" button in this charger. What is it for? A manual for a different charger (MH-16) indicated that you want to push this button for discharging, Why do you need to discharge the battery? Bad day in Africa!

Well I had a bad day in Cape Town, South Africa today. It started with a flat tire, and ended with my D300 + MB-D10, 18-200 VRII, Black Rapid strap, Promote GPS, 2 x 8GB, and one 16GB CF cards being stolen. I have until December 21 on this trip. At least I still have my G11 to fall back on.
