Does anybody know of a good source for a perfect color
35 mm slide that I can buy to test different scanners? , as well as the
recorder at my local print shop.
ie. possibly of a pretty landscape or flower, etc.
thank you for replys.

The slide you want is called a Kodak Q60 target and costs about $30.
http://www.cix.co.uk/~tsphoto/tech/filmscan/overview.htm
has some info. You can order via (pardon the long url):
http://www.kodak.com/cgi-bin/webCatalog.pl?product=KODAK+PROFESSIONAL+Q-60+Targets
As mentioned, the Kodak Professional (Ektachrome) Q-60 Color Input Target is
considered the industry standard,--available special order from Kodak. Each
one is an original, and thus a bit expensive. However, it will really
challenge any scanner. It's wholly unforgiving!
