[OT, far too late] Portrait model releases

and one of my major works is a sort of catalogue of portraits of the entire
photography course, both students and lecturers. The point of the project is
twofold- to give the group a pleasant gift, a sort of "yearbook" on CD-ROM
and web; and for my own personal portfolio. As the images will go on my own
site also, should I obtain model releases?
Right now I hope not, as it was a hell of a job getting hold of a bunch of
students who come from all over the UK and Norway (and China, Cyprus and
Ghana...) just for the photos, to get them back to sign releases will be a
hell of a job.
Oh, and the lab underdeveloped my films....

Unfortunately, caution would indicate the need for releases to publish
these on a website. I'm sure that 99% of your subjects would be just as
happy with out a release, but it only takes on unmitigated sob to ruin
the parade.

Bummer. Out of curiosity: is this absolutely clear from the negatives
that they underdeveloped and not that you underexposed?

I was afraid of that. I'm gonna use up all my laser printer credits this
month...

Well, the film name in the rebate at the frame numbers aren't black, they're
grey- this would suggest underdevelopment to me. I've checked my L408
against a uni Autometer III and both concur on incident readings to within a
half stop- and unless both are wrong (entirely possible, but uni meters
should be serviced) I don't think even a half stop discrepancy would explain
the degree of thinness I got.
On the bright side, I do have the biggest exhibition space :-)

Forgot to mention, I was using a small (16mm) tube occasionally, but I did
compensate when necessary
