Just think of the market prices if Canon could release the new Rebel
300D with a Nikon mount for lenses.

Yeah, that would be real smart. Not!
The point is that in the near future, they'll give ya the camera just to get
you to buy the lenses.

Not that outlandish an idea.

One of the brainfarts of the 4/3 scale was a universal lens mount allowing
that kind of interchangability. So you got Kodak, Fuji, Oly involved and a
few other players joining the fracas. Makes things interesting but it could
be another Beta/VCR Format scramble and not get the support of the lens
people...

On the other hand the ingenious and ballsy Dr. Yamachi hides in the curtains
awaiting another triumph of patent bending...

Of course Dr. Yamachi would love it and Stigmatize all of them. I can see it
now, the Stigma 4/3 SD-9U ( U for Universal) mounts that take all mounts
like the Cosina series of bodies...... Give Yamachi time and it will come
to be.......

Why would anyone want Nikkor glass? On the other hand, it is possible
to get a Leica adapter for Leica R lenses. I've seen images from a 10D
shot with Leica glass, and you can not believe how good they look. You
readily see how good digital really is, and how good a camera the 10D
is. So if you want superior glass, the means does exist.

But I would think it preferable for the lenses to be fast, rather than

Why yes -- it would me much higher, to help pay for the

With a $35 adapter, you *can* mount Nikon-F lenses on *any* Canon EOS
body, including the Canon DSLRs. So far it hasn't affected the price of
Canon's lenses or film bodies.

The Novoflex EOS/NIK adapter has a list price of 149 Euros
here in Germany - certainly more that $35.
No automatic aperture, but stop down metering
and aperture priority.

Autofocus and internal meters are mere gimmicks, too. As are multi-element
lenses, since a single element will get image to film. For that matter,
glass itself might be considered a gimmick, since a pinhole will get an
image to film...

I paid $35; its Russian-made, sold by someone in Southern California on
ebay. Its a solid machined aluminum adapter, nothing fancy;
stopped-down metering, manual aperture control and manual focusing
required. However, it does preserve infinity focus with no additional
optics.

Now your being stupid. IS/USM/VR/AFS whatever system your brand of choice
uses, none of these technologies are essential, they are nice add on's sure,

It's obvious that you have never used either of the technologies.

While I have only one IS lens, my USM lenses allow me to get shots I
can't get because of my manual focus gear requires faster fingers with
no arthritis in them.

It's too bad that you don't understand that to some, gimmics are tools
that work.

Hand holding at 1/15th when the wind is blowing in your face and still

It is a skill, even an admirable one, but professionals are interested
in results, not eeking out photos with minimal equipment. IS lenses
allow more success in making salable images and that is talent that pays.

IS allows handheld shots at 2 or 3 stops slower with near certain
sharpness. Even if a photog is very skilled at handholding, IS gives
him more room to handhold. It is clear added value.

That's Queen, not queen, and you forgot a question mark there, you put
in a space after irony before that question mark. And in the referred
post, yes your grammar was terrible:
your - you're
on's - -ons
done - did

I should have said, "Accomplished more," too. One of your images, the one
in the "Motion" section, is oddly lighted and composed, and the backdrop is
very wrinkled, showing a lack of attention to detail. The one in the
"Water" section is uninspired, especially when it comes to composition, the
sailboat, which I would guess you were trying to contrast against the larger
naval vessel, is dead center, giving the image absolutely no sense of
movement. In the "Cinema Verite" section, that image isn't half bad, but
still lacks any real dynamic. And I quit taking images like the one in
"Night People" years ago, it is way to static to show any of the passion a
musician should show for his work, nor does it have any sense of peace than
would come to a musician who is completely lost in his music.

Nah, we just took what we brought over here in the first place and modified
it to fit the situation...;-)

IF you don't care for anyone's opinion, why did you put your images up for
review? Huh, Joey? Whether I like your images is immaterial, what I was
doing was pointing out some of their technical insufficiencies. If you
can't take criticism, don't put your images where those who know anything
about the subject can see them.
And just how did I demonstrate my ignorance of the subject? All you can do
is cast vague aspersions, but you don't back them up.

I was challenged to put up some images so I did. I did not put them up for
your critique or anyone else's.
I did not make my submission choices based on their technical merits. I
chose those particular images because I like them, whether you like them or
not is irrelevant to me. I'm not trying to sell them to you.

Part of the shoot-in is to discuss the images. If images go up, it is
certain they will be discussed. Positives and negatives are sure to be
pointed out.

Ok fine, I'll still post what pleases me overall. There is more to
photography than the rule of thirds.

When in doubt, invoke the Tom Petty "possesive tense"... "yer" as in "Yer So

Nah, we just make up democracy as we go along, we gave up being taught English
long ago, now its Ebonics, Cell Phone Chic and other slanguage... We may not
know Shakespeare or even The Beatles very well anymore but most of us know all
the words to "Sponge Bob Squarepants" ;-)

OK, you win, Joey. You go back to doing what you like to do best, focusing
and holding cameras still at 1/15th of a sec, and I'll go back to what I
like to do best, creating images.

Remember Joe, there's no rule that photographes have to be liked.
