Found one rag that purposely alters photos
Doesn't surprise me that they (as a policy) edit out any images of guns from pictures. As a left-lib urban rag, that kind of Stalinist propagandizing is normal. This came to light because they posted a picture on their website of the mayor (whom they hate) pointing a gun at his head (a fake joke image). But they literally remove images of... more »

IrfanView Comments data - bug?
I'd appreciate others trying to reproduce this please. Not sure if it's my misunderstanding or a minor bug. A handy feature is that in a JPG Comment you can enter things like $F to get the filename and $E306 for the EXIF Date/Time. But if I try to place both on the same line, e.g. $F EXIF Date/Time = $E306... more »

When will these people get it? Telephotos can't shrink
Telephotos of specific speeds cannot be shrunk like wide angle lenses and normal primes just because a sensor is smaller. A 300mm f2.8 needs a lens at least 110mm across and it needs multiple elements because aspherics are not used on large elements yet. Whether the sensor is 4/3rds or FF, the lens is going to be that big.... more »

Fuji throws in the towel on circular blooming problem in X10
We pretty much knew firmware wouldn't fix this very serious issue. Fuji isn't a poor company, they should have recalled all the cameras and replaced the sensors, or scrapped them. [link]

"B" shutter setting?
I happened to see this question on an old Trivial Pursuit card: What does the camera shutter speed B stand for? The answer is "Bulb". Is this still used? Does it mean "flash"? What, exactly, does it do (or did it do)?

Entertaining video on photographer's rights (US)
There have been threads on photographer's, so I thought this might be interesting to some on the board. Vance

OM-D released, something weird about the skin
There appears to be two different body claddings. I'd much prefer the pebble texture to whatever that is on the black model. [link] [link]

Nikon D800/E $3000, cheaper than I thought
... > I can see some benefits in no AA filter if it includes no IR filter, then camera would be useful for Astro, IR, scientific and forensic work. I am not convinced of how useful no AA filter would be in general or studio work. I feel Nikon let the measurbators win on this. I don't think there is a need for a pixel count that high.... more »
