It's not as easy to use as Photomatix, but much more control and
reading the above tutorials and articles will help understanding
a lot more.

Troy,
Thanks for the links. I checked his site and tutorials out. He has much
to offer and does appear to know his stuff.
Right now I have more than I can chew on with Photomatix and finding
suitable subject material for further adventures in HDR.
There were basic mistakes I made with the original exposure and I have
at least learned that much. My preparation will be better next time.
This has been a weekend of invaluable lessons for me.

It is very very time consuming and almost addictive??
But I have a lot more time on my hands now I am retired but wonder if I
should get out and take shots rather than fiddle with them so much on the PC
;-)

So you understand my problem. I retired at the end of February.

Retiring in the 00's... By D-mac.
By the time you can afford a Porsche 911 carrera, you've lost the
reflexes to drive it! Get rid of it at a 100k loss and buy a simple,
people's car... Like an Audi s5!
Never let the cost of equipment stand in the way of curing boredom.
Go ahead, buy the bloody thing. It's only their inheritance you're
spending. As you do, teach them how to make their own.
Justify the new boat by believing it will save you money on holidays.
Then book your 48 day Alaskan summer cruise as you pay the bill for
having the boat shipped home from some distant island 'cause you fell
off the mast!
Most of all. Buy any and every piece of software you think might be
useful during convalescence when you hand over the platinum Amex to pay
for the (4th in 2 years) new PC because all before it weren't fast enough.
What does it really matter? We sacrificed our youth and gave up our
prime time to make the stuff ...for what? To keep it safe for the next
generation? Like hell! You want that new D3? Buy it!
I blame my grand father for the attitude thing. When he came to live
with us in 1958 I asked him where his wealth went. His reply?
"If I had known I would live this long, I wouldn't have spent it all"!
Dying in debt is not such a bad idea, come to think of it!

D-Mac... Back from the near-dead!
With my survival comes a new ability ...multi-tasking.
I can laugh, cough, sneeze, fart and pee all at the same time!
What on Earth are you babbling on about??

Oh... Did you not retire with a superannuation pay out?
I retired as a Lieutenant with a pension which pays me over $80K per year.
I also got paid out for vacation & leave credits I had accumulated,
which was a considerable amount. Then I have what is still in my 457K
Tax deferred account, where the total value is market driven.
...and now I occupy my day on my schedule.
