I think Marvin is right about the risk of self-applied repair
attempts.
My only move prior to trucking off to the repair shop would be
applying some gentle heat to the hood. Differential in expansion rate
might yield a short interval when the function is less impaired.

I agree with the others about getting it repaired professionally. However,
it may be possible to unjam it by twisting it in the opposite direction you
twisted it, but I wouldn't recommend you repairing it yourself in case
something were to go wrong.

Is it insured, maybe it'll be a little slippery and may fall and need
repairing/replacing.
