Looks like a read error off of the sensor. If it were a write error to
flash, I doubt it would end so coincidently at the edge of the frame.
If it occurs again within 1000 shots, there's a problem... but getting
Nikon to agree will be challenging...

It's a sensor read error. CF card errors affect random blocks of
data.
