Problem taking a picture of a football stadium

I took a picture of a football stadium and it was fine, but in the seating area
I was getting that "wavy" looking effect. I have forgotten what it's called. If
anyone knows how to combat this . . I'd appreciate the tip. . thanks

It could be aliasing - reduce the amount of sharpening your cameras -
AFAIK, all digital cameras over-sharpen to some degree on their default
setting.
