I have a delightful photo of my granddaughter that I have GIMP'ed into an
oil painting like image. It is in the form of the old Dutch master
portrait painters. I thought it would be nice to print it on canvas. Has
anyone done this and what has been your experience?

There are companies that specialize in printing on canvas. Some are:

Thanks Stephen. That is an excellent compendium of sources to do what I
want.

On the same note has anyone tried running some canvas through an HP 9650?
It has a rear feed and takes up to 13" wide paper. I was wondering if I
could just feed some canvass through the back? Or if anyone has treid
printing onto canvas with another injet.

Epson makes "PremierArt Water Resistant Canvas" for several of its
pigment printers and it works very well, with a slightly white finish,
true canvas texture, and accurate ICC profiles. Does a real nice job.
I think you need at least a 13" wide printer to use it though.

Two options. One is canvas textured printing paper. It is available.

If you want to print on REAL canvas, you can use those iron-on transfer
papers and iron the image onto a fabric.

Canon makes a canvas inkjet product that works very well in my i9100.

I haven't done it myself, but I have used a lab who printed a number of
frames on canvas for me.
They are 3ft x 2ft, have been properly stretched and look absolutely superb.

I have used the T-shirt transfers to get a print onto timber, was very
successful, had to play around a little with the irons heat setting though.

I print to canvas all the time with a HP printer. HP sell a fine weave
canvas in rolls which prints just like on paper. It seems to work OK with
dye inks too. I spray my prints with varnish so hopefully, they will last a
while.
