G2 and S40 landscape

I heard some people were unhappy using these camera's for
landscape pictures.

Could somebody with experience on these camera's why this is a problem?

I've been getting fine results on landscape photos. The Canon G1 and
G2 cameras are the only digital cameras I own & have never used the
S40 comparison camera. The "fast" f/2 lens on these cameras is really
superb, with minimal flare on night-time photos. I doubt if the S40
lens can equal this fine performance.

I'm taking a 7-week trip through (mostly) western US in a few weeks &
the G2 will be my primary camera - I'll only be using my trusty Canon A1
35mm for distance shots (300mm zoom) - or if I run out of CF storage!

You may want to elaborate on what you have heard. What are the issues
that those "some people" was not happy about ?

I have the S40 and my landscapes are very acceptable.

What I heard was that the autofocus is very slow on infinite landscape
pictures and
the picture quality is not all that sharp, especially around the borders.

Actually the S40 is excellent for night-time shots.
