Anyone tired the HP paper for the Photosmart in the Epson Stylus Photo?
How does it work or not work? Any comments would be appreciated. I Have
found that the Epson papers work great, the kodak paper does'nt work, and
I have had poor luck with the T Shirt transfer paper.

Sounds like you should have bought a HP printer. :-(

Last I heard from one guy he said that the HP paper leaves too many blobs
of ink. However, I could be wrong.

I have tried the HP Satin Gloss, Heavy Weight Photo Paper #HP C1846A
in my Stylus Photo. It works the best, for me, out of all the papers I
tried. It was only about 60 cents a page, compared to the Epson
glossy at $2+ per page. The ink takes quite a while to dry on this
paper, so be careful. The funny thing was that the color balance on
the HP paer was perfect without any correction. The Epson paper was
very greenish. BTW the Kodak paper was very muddy for some strange
reason.

I haven't tried the HP paper yet, but I have tried the Kodak and the
CompUSA store brand (neither work well with the Epson 600/800 printers). Of
course, the Espon paper works great. It would be nice if other Epson
owners would post which paper has worked well and those that don't work
well. I don't mind buying the Epson paper but I would like a backup brand
when the stores are out of it.

I tried both the 'old' HP paper as well as the newest paper that was
introduced together with the Photosmart printer. The old paper doesn't
work: results are extremely off color (red). Same thing for Apple paper by
the way. The new HP paper gives correct colors, but the prints look more
grainy than with Epson paper. This is probably due to the drying time being
less than optimal. I recommend using Epson paper only.

I have tried HP glossy paper with an Epson Stylus Pro. The results were not bad,
but the same file printed on Epson glossy paper was MUCH better. I think the ink
formulation has something to do with it. My suggestion is get a small quanity and
give it a try...

I'm very curious to learn which fine art papers and driver settings
work well with the photo printers. The combination of Fractal
Painter's natural media tools and photo-realistic printing opens
up new opportunities for fine artists. Anyone experimenting?

Hi Bob and others,
I got very good results with Canon NS-201 paper. Costs 1200 BEF
(approx. 35 USD) for 50 sheets. But I haven't tried the Epson paper
yet, so I can't compare... Give it a try, if you can find it, and
let us all know.
Kind regards,
Joris

So far, using the Epson Photo, I find the results using Epson Photo
Quality Ink Jet Paper to be superior to their Glossy Film ($0.13 vs
$2.00 per sheet, no less).

While the paper does wrinkle, I have yet to find this objectionable
when it's hanging on the wall. Otherwise, perhaps it's the matte
finish that leads to a richer, less garishly neon type of color.

What I'm now looking for is a slightly heavier weight matte paper, so
it wrinkles less. Back in the days of b&w darkroom, photographic
artists commonly used 'glossy' paper that dried to a finish much less
shiny than either Epson Film or the HP paper that I've seen. These
papers are more similar to glossy finsh RC photgarphic paper, which no
serious b/w printer would dream of using.

Printing on Watercolor paper results in much more ink absorbtion and bleeding;
and the end result is the losss of fine detail. Also, since the Epson inks are
'inks' and not pigments, the life span of a print is measured in weeks and
months and not in years-not something a fine artist would appreciate.
