Subject: CF Card - Erase All v/s Format
I have a CF Card on my Olympus C-2500L and I always shoot at HQ mode.
Once the card is full, I have the option to "ERASE" all the pictures or
to "FORMAT" the card. Usually, I just "ERASE ALL". However the last time
I shot at HQ mode, I got 119 pictures - now I can see 108 pictures
available (No pictures are locked or in Protected mode. How is that?
Should I reformat?

Maybe. TRy it and see, you have nothing to lose (as long as you back up your
pictures first!).  IT may be that erasing pictures has over time left small
gaps that cannot be reused for pictures without a reformat.
Also not all pictures are the same size, so it might also depend on what
sort of pictures you took. Maybe pictures with a lot of similarity (say a
lot of blue sky or whatever) might compress more than pictures with lots of
detail?
