This follows on the heels of that Youtube entry about Dpreview and pixel
peeping.

The thread might be gone by the time you try to read it, but silence
speaks volumes. They guy is right about some of the more prolific
posters, especially the chip-on-the-shoulder, always defensive because of
the tiny 4/3rds sensor types.

Below is the transcript as of 12:05am EST:

Speaking of 4/3 NEW [SIMILAR]
Hercules - 5 hours ago

It's time that someone steps in here and tells you fanboys a thing or
two. You guys are the most pathetic, laughable, delusional, idiotic,
trollish, big mouthed wastes of resources this planet has ever seen.

People who lurk on these forums look at you as though you are useless,
little, impotent peons that have no life and live vicariously through a
perverted allegiance to a camera company or one particular model of
camera from that company. You dipsticks undoubtedly take yourselves
seriously, but any sane human being is laughing their ass off at you.

I've heard that one of your regular activities is to get together at each
others houses, erect a shrine to Canon by putting a table in the middle
of a room and setting all your Canon camera gear on it, lighting candles
and surrounding the table with chairs in a circle, and then, while
listening to a couple of renditions of You Are My Hero by Bette Middler
you all sit in the chairs and have a circle jerk while staring lustily at
the Canon camera gear on the table.

carlk and Julio have the smallest weenies but the rest of your dicks are
also too small to be seen without a strong loupe. You guys try to
compensate for your minuscule manhood by buying big lenses and pretending
that they make up for what you're missing down there.

Your wives, if you're even married, are screwing the UPS guy or their
coworkers because they want to know what it's like to be with a real man.
They're laughing at you behind your back and telling their friends they
only stay with you because you're so fu*king gullible you'll fall for
anything.

If any of you actually knew what a good photograph is, it would be a
miracle. All your time is spent here defending and promoting Canon trash
and your life is a miserable existence. The only fu*kwads who give a sh*t
about what you say are the other raging, impotent fanboys on these
forums. The real world doesn't care one iota.

I've listed some of you below. If you're not in the list you may still be
a dumba*s fanboy.

Oh, by the way, a friend of mine came across a few sites you guys should
bookmark and watch. The first two look especially interesting and it look
like the truth is finally being told. The third one shows the downfall of
dpreview in recent times. So much for their lying claim of 7 million
unique visitors per month.

DPReview is going down the drain and you fanboys are one of the main
reasons. Serious photographers don't listen you you twerps and the rest
of this site has less and less to offer every day. The reviews here are
totally biased and the results are determined by ad revenue from the
camera companies.

You fanboys and dpreview are frauds and everyone but you knows it. It
won't be long before this site goes away, but you microscopic dicked
little dolts will still have your circle jerks to get together at and
convince yourselves that you're important and doing your best to kiss
Canon's ass. I'm sure Canon appreciates it.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled fanboy fantasies.

I thought this statement was rather ironic.

I am often perplexed by some people's reactions to someone being an
'alleged' fanboy. Even the bonafide fanboys who frequent these forums
don't influence my photography. The biggest irony of all is that there is
so much discussion when photography is about showing what words cannot

the fact that you are reposting that garbage here suggests that it is
*you* who signed up as 'hercules' and posted it in just about every
forum.

Hardly. I just applaud the guy for attacking the thin-skinned, fanboy
children in those forums.

By what convoluted logic does that puerile rant qualify as an "attack"? It
lacks any substantive examples of the incompetence and fraud it seems to
allege. At best it's a diatribe; at worst it's gibberish.

The idea was to broad-brush certain members of forums without naming
them all and starting 100 brush fires in the process. Fact is, the
guy makes good points and it all boils down to one cause: That too
many hotheads are TOO emotionally involved with their particular
equipment. They need to be reminded that a camera is a tool or a toy
and NOT a lover.

Actually, I don't see that he makes *any* points. All he does is accuse DP
Review's reviewers of dishonesty and incompetence without citing even one
concrete example.

: and it all boils down to one cause: That too many hotheads are TOO

: emotionally involved with their particular equipment. They need to be
: reminded that a camera is a tool or a toy and NOT a lover.

Even if DP Review's forums *are* crawling with fanboys, why should you or I
care? We don't have to read their stuff. People go to DP Review to get
unbiased information about the equipment they test. If they're not providing
that, and you can prove it, that's one thing. But how does the rant you quoted
contribute to anybody's understanding of anything? Accusing a list of people
most of us never heard of, of being fanboys certainly doesn't do it.
