I've been installing the software for my new camera, and have run into a
bit of a problem. The Olympus software loaded OK, but when I loaded MGI
PhotoSuite, attempting to open the read.me file after supposedly
successful installation resulted in the message: "... can't find file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MFCUIA32.DLL ". I've never knowingly deleted a file
by this name, but I suppose it could have gone when I deleted old copies
of Netscape. Anyway, the not-strictly-on-topic question is: what's the
best way of dealing with this? (Please oh please don't tell me that I
have to re-install Windows 95 from scratch...! The prospect terrifies
me after a weekend of sorting out newsreader traumas.) Is it possible
to upload a _single_ file from my Windows 95 disk? All knowledgeable
replies gratefully received!
Thanks,
Lucrezia

I just you a copy of the file. Copy it into the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.
You might have to reboot your computer after you copy it to get it to work.

You might still have the file on your system. Windows95 keeps a backup
of damned near everything, even f you don't want it to. (Ever wonder
why your 200 meg drive never seemed to fill up, yet your 1.6gig is
almost full??)
Try going to the Start icon, Find/files and Folders and type in the
name. See if you find it under a backup folder. Do not include the
path, just the filename.. but be sure to put it back where your
program was looking for it..
(Who excatly *is* General Failure .. and why is he trying to read my
hard drive???)
This should be easier than trying to unarchive the .cab files (which
can be done, email me if you still have trouble)
Good luck
Charlie
If you read the thread, you will notice that I already sent the file to
Lucretia. I did not post the file since it is a *binary*. Remember the
controversy?

Another related question: uploaded photos viewed using the Olympus
software are of exceptionally good quality (and all indoor ones, too!
much better than expected from what I'd read), but when the same
untouched photos are viewed using PaintShop or PhotoSuite, the quality
is eroded (i.e. visible "dots"), and they look as they do on the web.
Why is that?
Thanks again for being such a helpful group of folks!
