I enjoyed that - but I wish they were much larger!

(You have a feel for light).

Hi Jeff,

I was wondering what month you went to shoot your Salton Sea? I am assuming
the electric poles are in Bombay beach on 3rd and E?
Besides Bombay beach and the North Shore are there any more submerged
housing? I know that in the works of Richard Misrach, there are plenty more
but they might of cleaned up the place?

Thanks,

Ann

Hi Ann, the electric poles are at the end of Niland Marina Road, North of
Niland. You have to go past the point where it says "Don't go beyond this
point" to see them. Bombay Beach still has lots of submerged housing, here's a
couple I took from there:

http://www.animalu.com/pics/submerge.htm
http://www.animalu.com/pics/outpost.htm

There two main "submerged" sections, one in which the water has a reddish hue,
with lots of salt deposits on the buildings, and another where the water is
more "normal" in color and there are lots of reeds. The two areas are very
close to one another, yet so contrasting in look and feel it always blows me
away...The first pic above is in the "normal" section and the second is in the
"red" area...

I've enjoyed looking at you works of art, they must be
called that as they are not simply photographs. Something I
hope to be able to do some day.

I am curious about the area though. Why the submerged houses
and other stuff? I had always thought the the Salton Sea was
drying up. Is the water level actually rising and if so why?
