Did you eventually resolve the situation?
I recently bought a laptop off Marine Park's site, and boy did I get
ripped off. The laptop itself was finely priced, but the extras (RAM,
ethernet card) were misrepresented entirely. The "Peter" sales guy who
assisted me lied completely about what the ethernet card could do (replace
a DSL modem), and claimed the RAM I bought was extra fast. I took his
word for it, and found out later that he was full of BS. Ever since I
tried calling the company back and asking for his extension, he's avoided
me and instructed his rude customer service rep to do the same. The
service at this joint is arguably the lousiest I've ever had to deal w/.
Today, I called MP's toll free line, and I received busy signals all day.
Anyways, I know that you had your bad experience awhile ago...sorry to
dredge it up from the past. I just wanted to know if you had any success
(and if so, how you went about doing so) claiming back the amounts you
overpaid. Have any of you filed a complaint/suit in court or contacted
the Better Business Bureau?
Thanks in advance.

They're in Brooklyn. When you deal with vendors based here you should
expect a terrible experience....

I was about to order a digital camera from them, and decided to do a Usenet
search (using google), and found all sorts of complaints.
Now I am planning to use AMDV.com. I checked their BizRate rating, and it
seemed OK. Does anyone have experience dealing with them?
Thanks
Shafiq

Their whois:

The first is a bad sign, but checking at their web site the second address
is their actual location. Vendors in NJ are semi-okay. Have you checked the
polices at their web site? Like returns, cancellations, etc? Going to:
http://www.amdv.com/policy.tpl, I do see a 10% restocking fee, but none of
the policies where they have the right to cancel your order for any reason
at any time. My opinion is if you are not in a rush try them, but refuse to
buy any accessories and know the price elsewhere with shipping, so when
they charge a high shipping you can then compare the total price and decide
whether you want to continue with these people.

I must be the only one who had a good experience with Marine Park. Bought a
camera and flash, and wanted overnight delivery. Got it the next day at 8:30
AM, everything was there and all charges OK.This was last June. Maybe they have
changed since then? I do prefer B&H but they coud not touch the MP prices.
I have to second your opinion.
Just got a Nikon CP880 from MP Superstore. Ordered online, got immediate
order confimation. Next day I received an email asking me to call back,
there were some issues to be resolved regarding the delivery address. Staff
was very polite, helpful and friendly. Tried to sell some accessories, but
wasn't pushy. Shipping confirmation was sent the same evening and I received
the camera right on schedule.
Be aware: they charge an arm and a leg for S&H (but still the camera was
almost 150$ cheaper than the closest competitor) and for accessories (I
bought those elsewhere).
And from reports I've heard that their customer service stinks when it comes
to returns etc. I can't comment on that because I had no need to return my
camera.
So far I'm very pleased and you can't beat their prices.

Where there really some issues to be resolved regarding the delivery
address? Or was this just a bogus excuse, so they could make the call to
try to sell accessories?
Don (donwiss at panix.com).
Then they had the gall to ship a gray market (no US warranty) camera. I'll
never buy from them again!
