Is there a reasonable remote control software available for a
D200(/D700) other than Nikon's own Capture? In an ideal world there'd be
a little bluetooth dongle on the camera and each shot shows up on the
laptop for inspection.

I have used Capture with a D70 and while it was alright (it was cool to
be able to adjust every setting on the camera from a computer), I just
don't want to encourage Nikon, and I really only need to be able to
download the image, I might as well control the camera with my fingers
as usual.

If a D700 comes into the mix, it would be super cool to do live view on
a laptop screen. I guess that'll rule out any 3rd party options... does
Capture even do that? Or is it as simple as connecting a cable?

IIRC the D3/300/700 all have HDMI output from Lv.
You don't need even a laptop, just a screen.

Thanks.

Oh yeah right, Camera Control now... at least that doesn't offend my
mission to discourage Nikon from making proprietary raw converters &
such. Of course they split it & double the price though :-) $160
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0606/06060101nikonsoftware.asp

And the wireless thing costs $700
http://www.prophotohome.com/forum/pro-photo-wiki-select-articles/73290-nikon-wt-2-a.html
-sounds like you need an actual network with a wireless transmitter not
just a laptop with wireless receiver?
