Selling prints

I have a few questions for those who sell copies of their prints. I have
some (color) photographs of flowers that I think might have mass appeal. I
love taking them and everyone who has seen them has loved looking at them,
too. I thought perhaps I could sell some prints to offset the cost of my
hobby, at least a little.

If you've sold prints, I'd like to know:

1) How did you get started selling? Flea markets, craft fairs, online,
display somewhere, how?

2) What sizes do you sell the most of?

3) Just mount and overmat, or more (or less)?

4) What kind of pricing is fair for not an art print, but bright, colorful
flower/still life close-ups? $25 for an 8x12?

5) To title, date, and sign? On the front bottom edge or where?

Hi Amy,
This is not what you asked, but if you really think the images could sell,
consider shooting chromes as well as print film to sell as stock images for
publication. This is much easier if you can identify plants by latin names
and you keep lists of what you have. Make friends with people in the garden
publishing industry.

Selling prints is more work than making them. I determine price by square
inch, process and materials, and what I think the market will bare. We all
sell our selves cheap when we are getting started, hopefully we learn.
